NEW YORK: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on September 25, Friday delivered a sharp response to a Pakistani journalist who attempted to interrupt a UN press briefing with an irrational question and baselessly accusing India of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan. The question of the Pakistan journalist testified how Islamabad runs fake narratives and tries to manipulate the world, while harnessing safe havens for terror outfits.
However, EAM Jaishankar slammed Pak reported & dismantled its propaganda structure. “A terrorist country is asking me that question. Come on,” EAM Jaishankar said, at the United Nations headquarters on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Pak journalist’s question reflects Islamabad’s propaganda to conceal terror-state label
The incident occurred after EAM Jaishankar and Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti addressed the press on the Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers. The UN’s media schedule had listed the event as an in-person press briefing involving the two ministers. Towards the end of the interaction, the Pakistani journalist stood up and asked EAM Jaishankar: “When will your government stop sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan?” The External Affairs Minister immediately rejected the premise of the question with his sharp, bold & outspoken pointed response.
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Harish Parvathaneni, subsequently told the journalist: “You have heard your reply. You have heard your response, loud and clear”. EAM Jaishankar, thus outrightly destroyed the illicit agenda of Pakistan. Thus, Pakistan’s illicit motives and theatrics were exposed by India at a vast platform, in front of hundreds of member-states & global representatives.
Pahalgam Attack & Operation Sindoor
New Delhi has repeatedly called on Islamabad to take credible action against terror networks operating from the Pakistani territory. Post the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed, India launched Operation Sindoor and dismantled the terror infrastructures of Pakistan, affiliated to LeT & JeM. Through the operation, India, with evidence, exposed to the world how Islamabad functions as a fertile soil to nourish terrorism as a state-sponsored policy.
The UN Security Council as well condemned the attack and called for the perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of terrorism to be held accountable. It also reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is among the most serious threats to international peace and security.
The External Affairs Minister is currently in New York leading the Indian delegation during the UNGA High-Level Week. He has held a series of bilateral and plurilateral meetings and is scheduled to address the High-Level Session on September 26, Saturday.
