CHENNAI: RSS is striving hard to eradicate untouchability in any form from society, which is the main focus area in its centenary year. It also underscored the protection of family values, which is a time-tested one for ages.

The annual meeting of Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was held at the Gram Vikas and Seva Ana Kendra, Patti Kalyana, Samalkha (Haryana) on 13th, 14th and 15th March 2026, which is the RSS’s highest decision-making body.  Vanniyarajan – Shetra sanghchalak, Kumaraswamy Sanghchalak, Uttar Tamil Nadu prant, Adalarasan sanghchalak, Dakshin Tamil Nadu, briefed in Chennai on March 17.

Vannirajan said, “As this year marks the centenary of the Sangh, the meeting had detailed discussions on major programmes and campaigns organised as part of the centenary celebrations, such as the Vijayadashami Utsav, Grihasampark (mass contact programme), Hindu Sammelan, Youth Conferences, gatherings of prominent citizens, and social harmony meetings, along with sharing of experiences and outcomes. The Sabha has reviewed the activities of the Sangh during 2025–26 and presents reports on significant initiatives carried out across various provinces.

Kumarasamy said this year, the focus will be on removing social and caste discrimination and untouchability from society. Even though Bharat attained independence 77 years ago, uncouchability persists across the country, and it is the same in a civilised society like ours.

Prof. Kumaraswamy underscored the need to protect the values of the family system, which is the hallmark of the Sana Tana system. Due to various reasons, it has been diluted to make way for alien ones. We should not allow this to happen, and at any cost,t it should be kept vibrant as it has been in the past when bharat was under colonial and Muslim rulers who tried their best to destroy it.

He said that at the all-India meet, 1,438 representatives from across the country took part over three days in Haryana. In Bharat, there are 88,949 daily shakhas, weekly milans in 23,606 places, and mandala monthly meets in over 13,211 places.  Sangh karyagram are being held at 1,34,766 places (total). Compared to the past year, the number has gone up. 5,820 new places have been added to the list.

The rising day of the RSS (Vijayadasami day) is being celebrated all over the country, with RSS men in gana vesh attending pathsanchalan, or a route march, in their respective areas. In over 62,555 such rallies, nearly 32,45,141 swayamsevaks attended, along with public participation. This year is special, as RSS is in its hundredth year.

They said that, as part of home outreach programmes under the banner of Grah Sampark and Hindu Family Sammelan, programmes were conducted. It had given firsthand experience of interacting with the public and understanding their views and suggestions, and had stressed the importance of family values, the nuclear family, or the joint family system. In that mass outreach programme, 67 lakh households in Tamil Nadu and nearly 10 crore households across the country were covered. During the programme, the policies and ideologies of the RSS were explained to the public, along with its centenary-year programmes.

They said all over Bharat, there were 36,000 Hindu conferences and out of which 3.50 people took part. In Tamil Nadu, 2.5 lakh people attended nearly 1,900 such conferences. In places like Jammu and Kashmir and the North East, our programmes receive a wholehearted welcome and reception. In Maoist menace states like Bastar and Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, people without any fear and with pride, eagerly took part in RSS programmes.

ALL RSS programmes, as part of its Centenary year, have been receiving public reception. This year, in Ravidas Guriji’s 650th birth centenary year, he showed compassion for marginalised people and the downtrodden, mostly Dalits. He worked hard for caste discrimination and empowerment and upliftment. Prof. Kumaraswamy is scheduled to address such a media briefing in Salem on Wednesday (March 18).
