In a strong show of opposition, advocates gathered outside the Telangana High Court Bar Council Gate in Hyderabad on October 13, to register their anger against the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and senior leaders of the Congress party. The legal fraternity condemned the actions of the Congress leadership near the Supreme Court premises in New Delhi, describing them as an attempt to threaten, intimidate, and undermine the independence of the judiciary.

The advocates staged a massive protest at the High Court, carrying banners and shouting slogans such as “Rahul Gandhi Down Down,” “Save Democracy,” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

Participating in his dual role as a senior lawyer and BJPTelangana State President N Ramchander Rao stood alongside practicing advocates to express solidarity with the judiciary. He emphasized that the legal fraternity across the nation stands firmly behind the Chief Justice of India and the judicial system against any political pressure tactics.

Ramchander Rao Questions Political Submissions to Constitutional Courts

Addressing media personnel outside the High Court gate, N Ramchander Rao severely criticised Rahul Gandhi’s conduct, questioning how a senior political leader could attempt to submit a purely political memorandum directly to the Supreme Court bench.

He said that the Supreme Court of India, the Chief Justice and the President of India are the country’s highest constitutional institutions and that people must have faith in and respect for all three. He termed the suggestion of directly meeting a Supreme Court judge “foolishness” and questioned the solidarity expressed by Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh in support of Rahul Gandhi, asking who was behind it. Rao said the BJP demanded that the Congress party stop insulting constitutional institutions.

The BJP Telangana President Rao remarked that despite having prominent senior advocates within the Congress rank and file, it was surprising that none of them guided Rahul Gandhi on basic judicial procedures.

He noted that the Gandhi family must understand that no individual or political entity is above the Constitution, and society will never accept a political culture that seeks to bring constitutional institutions into disrepute through street protests and sit-ins near court premises.

Allegations of Incitement and Attacks on Constitutional Authority

Highlighting wider political developments, the BJP state chief took sharp aim at the Keralam unit of the Congress party for issuing public statements demanding the resignation of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Suryakant, calling it a direct and dangerous assault on the authority of the judiciary. Drawing a connection to regional events, Rao noted that people are observing the forces behind recent Jamaat-e-Islami rallies in Bangladesh while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi speaks against the judiciary in Delhi. He alleged that the Congress leadership is engaged in a broader conspiracy to create unrest across the country and weaken democratic institutions.

Drawing a sharp contrast, Rao cautioned the public to observe the political forces operating behind the scenes, referencing historical instances where Rahul Gandhi had to submit unconditional apologies before courts of law. He stated that such repeated actions demonstrate a fundamental lack of respect for advocates, democratic values, and judicial rulings.

Rebuttal on Electoral Roll Controversies and Warning to Congress Leaders

Addressing the allegations made by Congress leaders regarding electoral roll modifications, Rao dismissed claims that 130 million voter entries were illegally removed under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

He challenged state Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Congress officials to produce concrete evidence to support their claims rather than spreading misinformation.

Rao clarified that voter registration, verification, and deletion processes are strictly monitored and executed under the constitutional guidelines of the Election Commission of India. He maintained that not a single legitimate voter had been improperly removed anywhere in the state, warning that if the Congress party continues to spread unverified claims to mislead the public, citizens will respond through democratic means.
