BJP Telangana alleges conspiracies over rise in minority votes from 20% to 57% in local body elections

BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao raised suspicion over a sharp rise in minority votes in parts of Telangana during the local body elections 2026, stating that in Nirmal, in one ward, minority votes increased like never before and that the party has filed a complaint seeking scrutiny. He questioned how minority votes rose from 20% to 57% and alleged that conspiracies are happening to stop the BJP.

On April 16, while speaking to media in Hyderabad, he further said that even though the AIMIM party’s vote percentage decreased, their influence in the state is increasing.

Rao announced that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is coming in April and said that in Hyderabad fake votes and outside votes will be removed. He said BLOs and officers should be alert and that people should also remain vigilant, alleging that up to 60 votes are being registered on a single house without the knowledge of house owners.

Detailing the outcomes of the municipal elections, he thanked everyone who voted for BJP and said that even though the party got fewer municipalities, its vote percentage increased.

Unlike the past, votes and seats for BJP increased, and in many municipalities BJP showed dominance as the single largest party, playing a key role in Chairman and Vice-Chairman elections.

He said that in 15+ municipalities BJP emerged as the single largest party and proved its strength in places like Khammam, Warangal, Kothagudem, and Parkal.

In many places the party’s vote base increased, while the BRS party’s votes decreased by 14% compared to the past, and BRS is now limited to only 13 municipalities.

He added that even the ruling Congress party did not get majority seats.

For the first time in history, BJP captured the Karimnagar Mayor post. In Karimnagar Corporation, Narayanpet, and Bhainsa municipalities, BJP secured the Chairperson post. In Nizamabad, BJP won in 28 places and emerged as the single largest party.

Speaking about Bhainsa, a town with over 50% Muslim population, Rao said that since the previous Congress regime many cases were filed against BJP workers and members of Hindu religious organisations and that as an advocate he secured bail for many.

He alleged that for a long time BJP Majlis and Congress Majlis together did not allow BJP to come into Bhainsa and that the MIM party committed many excesses there.

He alleged that MIM, Congress, BRS, and Communists together conspired to not allow BJP to get Mayor and Chairperson posts and said they should explain what relationship exists among these parties. He also remarked that even where there is no red flag, Congress in Telangana is enabling the red flag to get power.
