Hyderabad, June 2: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party President Pawan Kalyan has announced that the Jana Sena Party will formally enter Telangana politics and contest future elections in the state. Addressing a press conference at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, he said the party would actively engage with public issues, challenge injustices, and participate in both the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections and the next Telangana Assembly elections
The announcement came after the Telangana government denied permission for the party’s proposed “Telangana Nava Nirmana Sankalpa Sabha”. In response, Pawan Kalyan addressed party leaders, workers and supporters who gathered in large numbers at his residence. He stated that the current political environment in Telangana and attempts to weaken national unity made it necessary for Jana Sena to establish a stronger presence in the state.

Rahul Gandhi @RahulGandhi should respond on the hypocrisy of Telangana Congress leaders.

Pawan Kalyan clarified that Jana Sena had never opposed the formation of Telangana. According to him, the party’s objection was only to the manner in which the state was bifurcated. He said Telangana was not granted with the dignity and respect deserved by the people who had struggled for decades and sacrificed their lives for statehood. He recalled that he had undertaken an 11-day fast after the bifurcation process, expressing concern over the manner in which the decision was implemented in Parliament.
He criticised political leaders who, he alleged, repeatedly provoke hostility between the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for electoral gains. Such regional divisions, he argued, weaken national integration and distract attention from pressing issues such as unemployment, industrial development and governance. He said leaders should be held accountable for their actions rather than entire regions or communities being blamed for political failures.
Highlighting his long association with Telangana, Pawan Kalyan said Jana Sena was born on Telangana soil and that the party’s core principles were inspired by the aspirations and struggles of Telangana society. He recalled travelling extensively across the region, including tribal areas in Adilabad, and undertaking social initiatives there. He also noted that his 2024 Varahi Yatra was launched from Kondagattu in Telangana.
The Jana Sena chief strongly objected to statements suggesting that he should not enter or campaign in Telangana. He questioned why political leaders from Telangana could expand their parties to other states while opposing the participation of leaders from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh in Telangana politics. He argued that democratic politics should allow every citizen and political party to engage across state boundaries.
The Jana Sena president also criticised sections of the Left, arguing that some groups were encouraging regional divisions despite historically advocating international worker solidarity. He announced that a statue of the late revolutionary balladeer Gaddar would be installed in Andhra Pradesh as a mark of respect for his contribution to society.
