GUWAHATI: Sensational ‘Love Jihad’ murder case shocked Assam on September 26. A Hindu girl was brutally killed by her alleged Muslim boyfriend in a homestay last night in the Dharapur area in the outskirts of Guwahati city.
22-year-old Nimisha Thakuria was killed by her boyfriend Ashiq Ali. As per her family the 5th-semester student of the Integrated MA course in Guwahati University called her mother at 2.15 am on September 26. The distressed call lasted for less than a minute, during which she said she had been brutally assaulted by Ashiq Ali. The phone call got disconnected, and the victim’s parents rushed to the nearest Azara police station. As per the victim’s father, police informed that a girl was admitted in a local government hospital by a boy and his friends. They rushed to the hospital and found that it was their daughter Nimisha. The doctors referred her to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), but she died on the way. The victim’s father said that she left home at 5 pm on Friday for an outing with friends and later informed her mother that she will stay at university hostel with friends.
Police arrested accused Ashiq Ali. The accused is a labour with painters and has been in a relationship with the victim for a couple of years, as per report. East Guwahati DCP Balin Deuri said that the accused has been arrested. The home stay has been sealed for irregularities. The couple stayed in the home stay 5 times in this month and they were allowed to stay without any documents.
Employees of the home stay said that they ordered food at 9:30pm and it was served. Sources in police said that there are several injury marks at the victim’s body and the cause of death will come to light once the post mortam report comes out. The prima facie indicates that it was a murder. But why and how Ashiq Ali trapped the meritorious Hindu girl and killed her on a home stay will come to light after a proper investigation only.
Meanwhile locals in the Dharapur area blocked the national highway and lodged a protest against the brutal killing of a Hindu girl by Ashiq Ali. Protesters raised slogans against Love Jihad and demanded exemplary punishment of the culprit. Police are investigating the case and interrogation of the accused is also going on. The owner of the home stay where the murder took place has also been detained by police for further enquiry. But the detailed post mortam report only will disclose the murder of the Hindu girl by islamist Ashiq Ali.
