SATNA: A serious case of love jihad has come to light involving a Hindu woman from Madhya Pradesh, who has accused a Muslim man of concealing his identity, sexually exploiting her and pressuring her to convert to Islam for marriage. On September 25, the woman and her family approached Pathri police station and filed a complaint.

According to the complaint, the woman came in contact with a man named Shahrukh through Instagram around four years ago. She said he concealed his Muslim identity and presented himself as ‘Aman Singh’ on Instagram. The case has brought love jihad to the fore, with the woman stating that she was called to Haridwar on the promise of marriage.
Woman met Shahrukh through Instagram
The woman is a resident of the Sarai Mohalla area of Satna district in Madhya Pradesh. She came in contact with Shahrukh through Instagram around four years ago. At the time, he used the name ‘Aman Singh’ and introduced himself to her using the same identity. The two remained in contact for several years. According to the complaint, his Instagram ID was changed to ‘Shahrukh’ in 2024, but he continued to present himself as Aman.
On September 13, the woman left her home to meet him, believing that they would get married. She reached Delhi Railway Station at around 5 am the following day, where Shahrukh met her and took her to a room in Haridwar. The use of a different identity at the beginning of the relationship has become a key aspect of the love jihad case.
According to the complaint, Shahrukh told the woman that he was Muslim and that she would have to convert to Islam if she wanted to marry him. The woman refused to convert, following which she stated in her complaint that Shahrukh forced himself on her. She further told police that his mother and brother also pressured her to accept Islam.
When she refused to comply with their demands, she said she was locked inside a room with the help of another man identified as Sameer. She stated that she remained there for around three days and was not provided food. The complaint has therefore brought the issue of love jihad and forced religious conversion into focus, with the woman linking the pressure to convert directly to the proposed marriage.
The woman told police that she was found unconscious at a hospital on September 18. According to her complaint, Shahrukh reached the hospital the following day and took her away in his vehicle. She said he later left her unconscious at an unknown location. After regaining consciousness, she contacted her brother and informed her family about the incident. Her family subsequently brought her back and decided to approach the police. The circumstances described in the complaint have formed the basis of the love jihad case being investigated by the police.
Pathri police station in-charge Ravindra Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered against Shahrukh, his mother, his brother and Sameer. Police teams are searching for the accused and examining the woman’s complaint along with other details connected to the case. Investigators are working to establish the complete sequence of events.
The case has drawn attention as a love jihad case involving claims of identity concealment, sexual exploitation, confinement and pressure for religious conversion. The investigation is underway, and further action will follow based on the evidence collected by the police. The accusations made in the complaint will be determined through the legal process.
