The High Court heard petitions challenging the cancellation of the JPSC 11th-13th Civil Services Examination, JSSC CGL, Food Safety Officer and CDPO recruitment examinations.
The state government submitted its affidavit before the court. Following this, the petitioners were given 10 days to file their response.
The next hearing in the case has been fixed for October 7.
Stay on cancellation order continues
The court’s earlier stay on the government’s decision to cancel the recruitments will remain in force until the next hearing.
The matter concerns candidates who had already been selected through the four recruitment examinations before the government announced their cancellation.
Court earlier questioned four-week delay
During the September 15 hearing, the state government had sought four weeks to submit its counter-affidavit.
Justice Deepak Roshan questioned the request, noting that the government had already been given sufficient time to file its response. The court subsequently granted the government only 48 hours to submit the affidavit.
During the hearing, the court orally observed that cancelling several appointments together amounted to a “Tughlaq-style decree.”
Candidates challenge cancellation of four exams
Several selected candidates approached the High Court after the government cancelled the recruitments.
The petitions challenge the decision concerning the JPSC 11th-13th Civil Services Examination, Food Safety Officer recruitment examination, CDPO examination and JSSC CGL examination.
The government had taken the decision to cancel the recruitments following concerns over the involvement of TDPL in the examination process.
Since appointments had already been made through these examinations, the affected candidates moved the High Court seeking relief.
The court has, for now, kept the cancellation order on hold while the matter is being heard.
