AYODHYA: Ayodhya is set to glow with an especially grand celebration as preparations gather pace for the 10th Deepotsav, scheduled from November 5 to 7. The festival will feature 33 lakh earthen lamps across an approximately two-kilometre stretch, including Ram Ki Paidi, along the banks of the Saryu.

10th Deepotsav to illuminate Ramnagari with 33 lakh diyas

The 10th Deepotsav will showcase Ayodhya’s spiritual and cultural heritage through thousands of lamps, illuminated temples and elaborate decorations. The celebrations will be held under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The grand display of lamps will extend from Ram Ki Paidi towards the Saryu ghats, creating a spectacular visual along the riverfront. A special stage will also be set up at Ram Ki Paidi for cultural programmes during the three-day celebrations.

6.5 million wicks and 55,000 litres of oil arranged

To ensure the smooth and uninterrupted lighting of 33 lakh earthen lamps, preparations are being made on a large scale. Around 65 lakh wicks and 55,000 litres of oil are being arranged for the event.

The arrangements will also include 150 kg of camphor, along with T-shirts, candles and other materials required for lamp lighting. Officials and various departments are working to ensure that the arrangements are completed in time for the celebrations.

34,000 volunteers to support Deepotsav

Around 34,000 volunteers will participate in the Deepotsav preparations and execution. They will assist with lighting the lamps, maintaining arrangements and facilitating the movement and convenience of devotees.
The participation of approximately 34,000 students will also add a strong youth component to the celebrations. Food and drinking water arrangements are being made for the participating students.

Ram Ki Paidi and Saryu ghats to present spectacular view

The ghats of Ayodhya will be decorated with rows of earthen lamps, floral arrangements and illumination. Major temples across Ayodhya Dham will also be illuminated, while preparations for LED decorations are underway. The stretch from the Saryu riverfront to the major ghats will receive special lighting arrangements, adding to the visual appeal of the celebrations. The illuminated temples and lamp-lit ghats are expected to create a striking panorama during the festival.

Focus on security, traffic and cleanliness

With a large number of devotees and tourists expected to visit Ayodhya during Deepotsav, the administration is giving special attention to security, traffic management and cleanliness.

Arrangements are being strengthened across the approximately two-kilometre celebration area to ensure the event remains orderly and convenient for visitors. The administration is also focusing on improving facilities in view of the expected increase in footfall.

The 10th Deepotsav is expected to combine faith, cultural heritage and large-scale public participation, with Ayodhya set to present a spectacular lamp-lit celebration along the banks of the Saryu.
