LUCKNOW: For technological advancement and innovation-driven growth, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the development of the city’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) City in Lucknow. The ambitious project will come up in Sector-15 of the Vrindavan Yojana and is expected to transform the state capital into a prominent hub for AI-based industries, research, and startups. The project has been cleared by the Uttar Pradesh Awas Vikas Parishad and will be developed in collaboration with the state’s electronics department. Spread across 12 acres, the AI City will integrate modern technology, business infrastructure, and innovation ecosystems to create a future-ready urban space.

According to officials, the AI City will feature a state-of-the-art business park designed to host AI-based companies, startups, research institutions, and data centers. The project will also include incubation centers to support emerging entrepreneurs and foster innovation in cutting-edge technologies. The initiative is part of a larger plan to make Uttar Pradesh a top destination under Yogi’s leadership for technology investments in India. As artificial intelligence is growing rapidly worldwide, the state government wants to use this opportunity to attract both Indian and foreign companies.

Sector-15 of Vrindavan Yojana is already emerging as an IT hub, and the addition of an AI City is expected to further increase the area’s infrastructure and business potential. Officials believe that the project will create a synergy between existing IT developments and upcoming AI-driven initiatives.

PPP Model and Investment Structure

The AI City will be built through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with both government and private companies working together. The private developer will be selected through a transparent Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The land will be allocated on a 45 year lease, ensuring long-term investment stability for developers. The estimated value of the land earmarked for the project stands at around Rs 368 crore. Once operational, the revenue generated from the project will be shared, with the Awas Vikas Parishad receiving a 40 per cent stake. The project is expected to be completed within a timeline of three years.

The AI City project comes at a time when the state government has significantly increased its infrastructure spending. Recently, the housing board approved a budget of Rs 4,173.66 crore, out of which Rs 1,927 crore has been allocated for land acquisition and development. This financial backing is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring timely execution of large-scale projects like the AI City. It also signals the government’s commitment to long-term urban and industrial development.

Officials have indicated that the AI City will incorporate green energy solutions, advanced connectivity, and world-class infrastructure. The aim is to create an environment that meets global standards and appeals to leading technology companies. The project will likely feature smart utilities, energy-efficient systems, and high-speed digital connectivity, making it a model for sustainable and intelligent urban development. Such features are expected to give Lucknow a competitive edge in attracting high-value investments.

One of the key objectives of the AI City is to generate employment opportunities for the youth. With the establishment of AI companies, research centers, and startups, the project is expected to create a wide range of high-skilled jobs in areas such as data science, machine learning, software development, and analytics. Additionally, the presence of incubation centers will encourage entrepreneurship and support startups in their early stages.

Strategic Vision of the State Government

The AI initiative aligns with the broader vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to transform Uttar Pradesh into a major technology and investment destination. Over the past few years, Uttar Pradesh under CM Yogi’s leadership has taken several steps to improve ease of doing business, develop industrial corridors, and attract investments across sectors. The development of an AI City will position the state to participate actively in the global AI revolution. Projects like the AI City will not only enhance the technological capabilities of Lucknow but also contribute to its transformation into a smart city and innovation capital.
