Speaking to ANI, the woman said she met her husband, Nawaz (also known as Navadurga), in May 2021, when he approached her to rent a shop. Nawaz Allegedly Lured Woman by Faking Identity

“I first met Nawaz in May 2021. After meeting for a day or two, he told me that he had converted to Hinduism and had changed his name to Navadurga. Everyone from his family who was present there also agreed to it,” the victim said.

She added that on May 17, she made a post, and the next day, Nawaz came to her shop, paid one month’s rent and deposit, and that was how their interaction began. The woman further stated that she married Nawaz on 28 July last year and alleged that after the marriage, he and his family forcibly converted her to Islam.

According to the victim, Nawaz took her to a resort in May 2021, saying he would introduce her to his family. She stated that his siblings had earlier spoken to her over a video call and assured her they would meet her there. However, after she reached the resort and waited for the family to arrive, Nawaz reportedly told her they were running late.

Allegations of Abuse, Blackmail, Forced Conversion and Financial Exploitation

The victim alleged that Nawaz sexually assaulted her and took photographs while she was unconscious. She said he later brought food and drinks, despite her refusal to eat at the time. According to her, he forced her to consume them, after which she lost consciousness. She claimed she woke up the next morning in severe physical pain.

Suspecting something was wrong, she approached the reception to verify how many rooms Nawaz had booked, to check whether his family was actually expected. She alleged that she was informed that only one room had been booked in his name, which made her realise she had been misled. She further stated that when she returned to the room, Nawaz was sitting on the sofa and questioned her whereabouts. She told him she had gone to pay the food bill, according to her account.

The victim said that when she later questioned Nawaz about what had happened the previous night, he allegedly admitted to having sexual relations with her while she was unconscious. According to her, he told her, “While you were unconscious, I got physical with you and did whatever I wanted.” She further alleged that he showed her objectionable photographs taken during that time and used them to blackmail her. She claimed he pressured her into marrying him, assuring her that he would delete the images after marriage.

The victim alleged that Nawaz and his family continued to blackmail her using objectionable photos and videos, and also threatened to kill her mother and sexually assault her younger sister. She named Shahrukh, Sohail, Ismail, Reshma, and Nawaz’s sister as those involved. She further claimed that after marriage, she was forcibly converted to Islam and her name was changed to “Nazeera.” According to her, she was pressured into eating beef and was not allowed to perform religious rituals or puja. She also alleged that she was subjected to continuous physical and mental abuse, including being assaulted and having her clothes torn in public.

The victim alleged that Nawaz and his family used emotional pressure, threats, and intimidation to control her. She claimed they forced her to relocate, pushed her into a land-related deal, and falsely promised to start a business in her name.

She said she was cheated of Rs 16.7 lakh by July 2021, and alleged that the total financial fraud amounted to Rs 25–30 lakh, along with loss of gold assets. She also claimed she was compelled to undergo an abortion in August 2021.

The woman further alleged that despite approaching the police in January to file a complaint of rape and fraud, no proper action was taken, and her case was initially registered as a missing person complaint.
