In a disturbing incident reported from Saharanpur, a gym trainer has been accused of raping a young nursing student after allegedly rendering her unconscious by spiking her protein drink with an intoxicating substance. The case has triggered outrage locally, with police acting swiftly to arrest the accused and his associate.

According to police officials, the victim, a 21-year-old B.Sc Nursing student, filed a complaint at the Biharigarh Police Station on March 27. In her complaint, she stated that she had been regularly visiting a gym in the area, where she became acquainted with the accused, identified as Shehzad (28), a trainer.

The victim alleged that Shehzad gradually gained her trust and later took her to Dehradun. During this time, he allegedly offered her a protein drink laced with an intoxicant. After consuming it, she reportedly lost consciousness. Taking advantage of her condition, the accused allegedly transported her in a car and sexually assaulted her.

The complaint further revealed the involvement of a second accused, Mukarram (27), who allegedly played a crucial role in facilitating the crime. The victim claimed that Mukarram had been keeping track of her movements for days and assisted Shehzad in executing the plan.

Police from Biharigarh station registered an FIR immediately after receiving the complaint, treating the matter with utmost seriousness. Acting on intelligence inputs and a tip-off, both accused were apprehended without delay.

Speaking on the case, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain confirmed that the allegations were grave and warranted prompt action. He stated that both accused have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. “The victim’s medical examination has been conducted, and further investigation is underway,” he added.

Officials also indicated that the accused will be produced before a competent court, and additional evidence is being collected to strengthen the case.

While the investigation in this case is still underway, such incidents often reignite concerns around deceptive relationships and exploitation under the guise of trust. In recent years, cases involving allegations of identity concealment, emotional manipulation, or coercion in relationships, sometimes debated in public discourse under terms like “Love Jihad”, have drawn attention to the need for greater awareness and caution.

At such times, reports advise individuals, especially young women, to remain vigilant in new relationships, avoid consuming food or drinks offered in vulnerable situations, and maintain communication with trusted family or friends. Ultimately, awareness, personal safety precautions, and timely reporting of suspicious behaviour remain crucial in preventing such crimes.
