In the latest escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict, Israeli Defence Forces(IDF) on September 15, has reportedly undertaken a ground invasion in the Gaza city. The Netanyahu government in Israel has asserted that the ground launch is aimed at completely uprooting and eradicating the Hamas from the Gaza city. As per the sources, heavy tankers entered the Gaza city while there was also massive airstrikes that damaged numerous residential and civilian towers, that apparently functioned as terrorist shelters.

IDF has also reiterated the citizens of Gaza to move towards the South of the city and seek shelter in the dedicated humanitarian zones. Meanwhile Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has exclaimed that Hamas doesn’t have any immunity and they wouldn’t be speared “wherever they are”.

Israel-Hamas conflict is spiraling day-by-day since October 7, 2023 except a brief phase of ceasefire in the month of March that witnessed exchange of hostages and prisoners from both the sides. However, the conflict resumed within just few weeks of signing a ‘fragile ceasefire’ due to lack of transparency, mutual suspicion and non-release of the hostages by the Hamas as per the terms and conditions of the ceasefire. Inspite, of repeated negotiations mediated by US, Egypt and Qatar, the conflict is escalating.

On September 9, Israel had also launched a precision attack on Qatar targeted at Hamas establishments in the country and killed five Hamas members. Israeli Army has also attacked a 16-floor building in the western part of Gaza, apparently the tallest building in Gaza which the Israel claims as a “terrorist infrastructure”.

Meanwhile US Secretary of State Marco Rubio exclaimed that Hamas could end the war if they release all the hostages and surrender. However, he also reiterated that, “We(Israel) have to be prepared for the possibility that’s not going to happen”.

US President Donald Trump has  criticized Hamas as reports regarding Hamas using hostages as “human shield” against Israel’s ground offensive surfaced. He described it as a “human atrocity” and demanded for the immediate release of all the remaining hostages. Taking to his Truth Social platform, US President Donald Trump asserted, “I have just read a news report that Hamas has moved the hostages above ground to use them as human shield against Israel’s ground offensive. I hope the Leaders of Hamas know what they are getting into if they do such a thing. This is a human atrocity, the likes of which few people have ever seen before. Don’t let this happen or, All Bets are off. Release all hostages now!”.
