Srinagar: : Protests were held at several places in Kashmir on Monday against the killing of seven persons in a terrorist attack in Ganderbal district, officials said.

A candlelight vigil was also held at Pulwama as a tribute to the seven victims – one local doctor and six non-local labourers — of the terror attacks at Gagangir in Ganderbal district on Sunday night, the officials said.

The biggest protest march was held at Pulwama where youth held placards demanding an end to the bloodshed of innocent people. They also demanded justice for the victims of the terror attack.

The protestors were carrying a huge banner which read ‘Pulwama Stands Against Terrorism’.

A similar protest was also held at Ghanta Ghar in Kulgam town.

The body of Shashi Bhushan Abrol who was killed in the Ganderbal terror attack on Monday evening reached his hometown in Jammu.

As soon as the body reached, a pall of gloom descended on the Talab Tillo, an urban area in Jammu.

Locals flocked to kill Bhushan Abrol’s home to pay their last respects. Several members of the family broke into tears as shown in the pictures.

A doctor and six construction workers were killed when terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in the Ganderbal district late Sunday evening. The terrorists struck as the labourers and other staff returned to their camp in Gund, Ganderbal. The incident raised serious concern as this was a targeted killing by the terrorists.

Meanwhile, the brother of Shashi Bhushan Abrol said that the terrorists behind the attack should be killed.

“He never talked to us regarding any fear. He did not respond to our calls after 6 pm. Today in the morning we received information regarding his death,” Abrol’s brother told ANI.

“He has two children. These terrorists should be killed. He was the only breadwinner of the family,” he added.

Abrol’s father told ANI that Shashi Abrol had spoken on the telephone with his wife at 6 pm on Sunday.

“Yesterday, his (Shashi Bhushan Abrol) wife had a telephone conversation with him at 6 pm, but later he did not respond to calls. He was a designer. We received information regarding his demise in the morning. He has been working with the company for the past 5-6 years,” Abrol’s father said.
