Kerala: Hindu Aikyavedi stage massive protest at state assembly, demands expungement of comments against RSS

In a massive demonstration on October 15, thousands of members of the Hindu Aikyavedi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and other Hindu organisations staged a protest rally in front of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. The rally was in response to perceived attacks made against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Valsan Thillankerry, the Kerala State Working President of Hindu Aikyavedi, during the state assembly session

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Hindu Aikyavedi and other Hindu organisations, staged a massive protest in front of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, demanding the removal of comments made against the RSS and its leaders from the assembly records. Thousands of workers from the Hindu Aikyavedi, BJP, and various Hindu organisations participated in the rally, which was sparked by recent remarks targeting RSS and Hindu Aikyavedi’s Kerala state Working President, Valsan Thillankerry, during assembly proceedings.

Addressing the gathering, Hindu Aikyavedi State President RV Babu criticised both the ruling CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) for their alleged attacks on Hindu organisations. He attributed these actions to their “humiliating defeat” in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency in recent elections. Babu questioned the legitimacy of the accusations made by K. Rajan, the Minister from the CPI, who had raised allegations against the RSS in the assembly, asking which report Rajan had relied on for his claims.

Babu further claimed that the assembly witnessed a coordinated effort by both the LDF and UDF to undermine Hindu leadership and divide the Hindu community. He criticized ministers, the Leader of the Opposition, and other legislators for using their constitutional positions to attack the RSS and its leaders, including Valsan Thillankerry, on the assembly floor. According to Babu, the criticisms were an attempt to shift blame for the CPI’s poor electoral performance in Thrissur, rather than addressing actual issues.

The Hindu Aikyavedi leader also accused opposition leader V.D. Satheesan of carrying out a Jamaat-e-Islami agenda by attacking the RSS in the assembly. Babu alleged that the police, under the directive of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, had disrupted the traditional Thrissur Pooram festival, while Satheesan used his platform to defend smugglers and black marketeers.

Following the rally, R.V. Babu and other Hindu Aikyavedi leaders submitted a formal memorandum to A.N. Shamseer, the Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. The memorandum demanded the expungement of what they called “unnecessary comments” made against the RSS and Valsan Thillankerry from the official assembly proceedings.
