Thiruvananthapuram: Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai said in Thiruvananthapuram on August 30, 2024 that those who stood and argued for the division of Bharat into 16 nations are still active in the country. They took that stand when the country was almost close to independence. And, some people asserted that religion is the base for the country. He asked them to clarify if they still adhered to those theories. Sreedharan Pillai was inaugurating the “Bridging South Conclave,” organised by Sangh-inspired “Kesari” Malayalam weekly, in Thiruvananthapuram.
Goa Governor said, “the notion that the British unified this country is mere nonsense. Bharat is a unified nation and also ancient. Bharatiya culture is evergreen in the entire world. Bharat’s nationalism is always linked with spirituality. The seeds of our unity lie in diversities. They have to be brought up. But, unfortunately, these are not discussed much in the state.”
Sreedharan Pillai added, “Kerala becomes a state which is not interested to discuss nationalism.; it is not good. Here, negative discussions are abundant instead of positive discussions.” He further said, that Kerala erred when it tried to follow ‘revolution’ instead of the spirituality of Sreenarayana Gurudev.
Prajna Pravah national coordinator J Nandakumar delivered the introductory speech. He stated that there are deliberate attempts to spread fissiparous tendencies in Dakshin Bharat. As nationalism was kept away, Bharat lost Sidhu banks, the place where Vedas took birth, Gandhara and Dhaka. The Left ideologists who wrote on “Kerala, the motherland of Keralites” and “Vishal Andhra” could not garner strength, thanks to the power of nationalist movements. But, their followers are still vigorously trying to sow the seeds of division. The propaganda like “Cutting South”, etc. are the attempts in this direction.
Addressing the gathering former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that a few years before, answer to the questions regarding the enemies of Bharat was ‘China and Pakistan’. Now, the country’s enemies are the domestic forces which join hands with the political parties who divide people on caste lines and those who promote divisive programmes like Cutting South. Rajeev Chandrasekhar added that to divide the people are the national level tactics of the opposition parties. “Bridging South Conclave” is an answer to those sorts of wrong trends.
Former Ambassador T.P Sreenivasan presided. Rani Mohandas (MD of Mohandas Group of Institutions), “Kesari” Chief Editor Dr. N.R. Madhu and Dr. K.N. Madhusoodanan Nair (former Academic Consultant of NAC) spoke on the occasion.
“Organiser” Chief Editor Praful Kelkar said that the media in Bharat are in the forefront to propagate anti-national tendencies. He was speaking on “Why are some media anti-national ?” Media support anti-national sentiments. Not only that, media implement those activities cleverly. Anti-Bharat war is led by the media. This is the continuation of the partition of the country. Programmes like “Cutting South” is the continuation of the colonisation implemented by Britishers and their next generations. Media attack the selected persons, institutions and incidents. The idea is to kill nationalism. These sort of media agendas should not be permitted to win.
Political observer Sreejith Panicker said that governments should formulate policies against anti-national forces. Media have their own politics hence country needs a media policy. Media personality G.K. Sureshbabu and Dr. T.P. Sankarankutty spoke on the occasion.
