While self-proclaimed intellectuals and liberals claim Love Jihad is propaganda, cases for the same are being reported almost every day. On May 13, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad volunteers in Lucknow received information regarding a man beating a burqa-clad girl inside a train. As soon as they reached the station, they found the minor was married to the man and converted to Islam.

The accused has been identified as 22-year-old Javed alias Arman Alam, while the victim is Neha Khatun (name changed) who was originally Neha Kumari Mahto, a Dalit. Both of them are the residents of the Siwan district in Bihar.

A First Infomation Report (number–115/2023) in this case was registered at the GRP police station Outer Kanpur on May 13. Naveen Singh on behalf of the victim Neha told the police that she is native to Chand Pasra village of Siwan district. The boy, Arman Alam used to study with the minor in her class. He persuaded her to elope with him a few months back.

He threatened the minor saying he will kill her family if she will not comply with his demands. Neha was converted to Islam before Nikah, her name was changed to Neha Khatun, and then Arman took her to Delhi.

Naveen Singh, the complainant told the police that, he received a call from an unknown number stating, a Muslim man is abducting a Hindu girl. Soon they spotted the train number–12566, and nabbed the man, after interrogation it was revealed that the girl was a minor and the boy was Muslim. The girl was injured, she had wounds and was frightened.

During the interrogation, the boy accepted that he had abducted the girl almost eight months ago from her native place. On May 13, he was taking her back to Bihar, she was wearing a Burqa.

The accused was arrested and booked under IPC sections, 363 (abduction), 366 (kidnapping), 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 376 (rape) with sections 3 and 4 of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offense (POCSO) Act and sections 3 and 4 of the Uttar Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.

The minor on the other hand was handed over to the One Stop Centre.

In a video statement given to the counsellor at the One Stop Centre, the minor can be seen telling how one of his Muslim classmates persuaded her to leave her parent’s house against threats. During the past eight months, the minor was impregnated by the accused and also had a miscarriage.

She 16-year-old is Neha Kumari (name changed), eloped with Mohammad Arman from Bihar to Delhi. They had lived together for almost 8 months, Arman converted her to Islam, impregnated her and was traveling back to their hometown Siwan.

Mohit Kumar, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad head, Kanpur said, the minor’s family was not ready to accept her. She was in a vulnerable state when they nabbed the accused, he had beaten her up brutally. As per the Adhar Card, the year of birth of the girl is 2006, she will be presented before the court for the statement, he said.

This correspondent tried calling up the GRP Station House Officer, RK Pandey on May 18, however, the calls went unanswered, as soon as any press note or the official statement is issued by the police, Organiser will update the report.

Notably in the recent past, a number of cases have been reported from Bihar, regarding the abduction of minor Hindu girls by Muslim men.

On May 11, Organiser reported a similar case from the Nawada district of Bihar where a minor was abducted by Musharraf Alam.

Musharraf Alam abducted a 16-year-old Hindu girl on April 24 from the Warisaliganj police station area of the Nawada district of Bihar. Almost after 15 days the Nawada police tracked the duo in Ranchi.
