State De-Notified Nomad and Tribe Board (DNT) Vice President and Congress leader Chataram Deshbandhu has made objectionable remarks about Bhagwan Ram. The incident took place on April 18 during a meeting at Kapasan in the Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan. A video for from his speech has now surfaced. In this video, Chataram can be seen questioning the character of Bhagwan Ram.

‘People say, Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram ki Jai… I say that no one has been born in the world more cheap or wretched (abusive word) than Ram. He was pushed into exile for 14 years with his clothes. He threw him out of his house in 5 minutes, whose (abusive word) is this to you, how can we call him Maryada Purushottam, man… This is like a Bollywood movie and the Bhagwan is the wrong number. (Chatraram used such words for Bhagwan Ram and that we are just writing them).

On April 18, there was a maha panchayat of Bhatu Kanjar Samaj in Mevda Colony in the Kapasan village. The maha panchayat was called regarding the murder of youth from the society. Deshbandhu participated in it as the chief guest. During the address in the program, he raised questions on the character of Lord Ram.

After his speech and his comment on Bhagwan Ram, he told the media, “I am not against religion, I am a follower of the same religion, I do not speak anything without reading. I have spoken what I have read, in this the RSS people are playing a drama. I will answer them even after going to their city. I never lie, I do not speak even out of fear, I speak only after thinking. We have a little fight with Ram. If there is an inquiry, we will answer in that. I had gone to get justice and compensation for the Kanjar community.”

“People call Ramchandra ji Maryada Purushottam, but I say that there is no cheap wretched man like Ram in the whole world”

On the other hand, after the matter came to light, Mangilal Vaishnav of Kapasan gave a complaint to the police demanding action against Deshbandhu on April 20. He said that the statements of the De-Notified Nomad Tribes board member have hurt the religious sentiments. And strict action should be taken against Deshbandhu. Radheshyam also warned the administration that he will make sure there is widespread protest along with the Hindu organizations in the district if the case was not registered by April 21.

In this case, Kapasan station house officer Gajendra Singh said that on the complaint of Radheshyam Vaishnav, they are investigating the matter, and the teams are watching the video. Action will be taken deemed necessary.

Now Kapasan MLA Arjun Lal Jingar has also entered the debate. The MLA lodged a complaint against Chataram Deshbandhu in the Kapasan police station. The MLA said in his report that according to religious tradition, being a follower of the Hindu religion, he considers Bhagwan Shri Ram and Krishna as deities and has a deep reverence for them.

Chatararam called Maryada Purushottam Ram the worst person in the world. Through this comment, he wants to create division among those who believe in Sanatan Dharma and take political advantage by creating a situation of class struggle. The video of his comment is going viral on social media. He also presented the CD of Deshbandhu’s video clip along with the complaint. A demand was made by the MLA to take legal action against Deshbandhu in this matter.

As of now, no action has been taken against Deshbandhu.

Yesterday, netizens demanded action against WIPRO employee for making derogatory remarks against Bhagwan Ram. Soma Sarkar, an employee of the Indian multinational corporation Wipro, sparked outrage by posting a disrespectful meme of Bhagwan Ram and Sita Maa on April 20. She shared a post of Bhagwan Ram throwing into a blazing pyre.

She shared a picture on Facebook wherein Bhagwan Ram was shown tossing Sita Maa into a burning pyre, and ‘Ram after rescuing Sita from Ravana’ was written on it. The picture had a caption, “Chaddis (a derogatory term for RSS members) will say Ravaan kidnapped the shadow of Sita. Bolo Jay Shree Raam”, followed by multiple laughing emojis.

“Yes, there are historical differences. I will share a story. Ram returned from Lanka after killing Ravana, his brother Lakshman, and his wife Sita, in Pushpaka Vimanam. When the vimana entered the southern part of Kerala, Lakshman thought of pushing his brother to the sea and escaping with Sita. When he thought of the consequences, they had reached Thrissur, and he changed his mind and felt guilty. Sitting in a corner, Rama patted him on the shoulder and said, “Yes, I read your mind. It’s not your fault. The fault lies with the land we covered”, K Sudhakaran, President of Kerala Congress said in April 2022.

Similarly, in April 2023, Samajwadi party leader Swami Prasad Maurya said, “Mile Mulayam-Kanshi Ram, hawa ho gaye Jai Shri Ram”. Maurya was charged under IPC Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) for his remarks.

In the same month a FIR was registered against a comedian for making derogatory remarks gainst Bhagwan Ram during a show. This comedian, Yash Rathi from Dehradun said, “When Jesus tried walking on water for the first time, he drowned. His friend pulled him out of the water and asked Jesus why he had so much overconfidence., if he didn’t know how to walk on water, why didn’t he learn to swim? Jesus responds by saying, I made a small mistake, I forgot to write Ram on my chappal”.
