Gond community’s connection with Ram devotion
The Gonds are among the major tribal communities of Bharat, with large populations across central and parts of western India. Their religious and cultural traditions have developed through a combination of community-specific practices and wider Hindu traditions.
Historical and ethnographic accounts also document the presence of Ram devotion among sections of Gond communities. The Ramnaami tradition of Chhattisgarh, for instance, traces its origins to a man described in historical accounts as the son of a Gond tribal and is centred on devotion to the name of Ram. The temple was consecrated on January 22, 2024.
