New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, June 6, laid specific emphasis on the fact that the nation has suffered a lot due to the “previous Government-centric governance”.
“…..Today, India in the 21st century has moved forward with people-centric governance. It’s the public that sent us here to serve them,” the Prime Minister said.
“That’s why it’s our highest priority that we ourselves reach the public,” he said, addressing a programme organised by the Union Finance ministry, where the Jan Samarth Portal for credit-linked government schemes was launched.
A digital exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will be launched too.
The Prime Minister said: “There was a time when policies and decisions in the country were government-centric. It means that after a scheme started, it was the responsibility of the people to reach the govt to avail benefits”.
Such arrangements and working modules were not good, he said.
The Jan Samarth Portal is a one-stop digital portal linking Government credit schemes. It’s a first of its kind platform which directly connects beneficiaries to lenders. The main purpose of the Jan Samarth portal is to encourage inclusive growth and development of various sectors by guiding and providing them with the right type of government benefits through simple and easy digital processes. The portal ensures end to end coverage of all the linked schemes.
The new portal will help students, entrepreneurs and also business people, the Prime Minister said.
“This will make life easier for farmers too and also help them materialise their own dreams,” he said.
