LAKHIMPUR: An attempt to conceal his identity has become a key focus of a police investigation after Islamist Shaan Mohammad was reportedly found at a hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur district with a 15-year-old girl.
According to the information available, Mohammad had arrived at JP Palace Hotel with the minor, whose presence reportedly raised alarm among local residents. Concerned locals alerted Bajrang Dal, who reached the hotel and confronted the man.

Police reached the hotel and took Mohammad into custody for questioning. Investigators are now to establish why he brought the minor to the hotel, how he came into contact with her and whether he attempted to conceal the nature of his association with the girl.
Investigators will examine hotel records, CCTV footage, phone communications and witness statements, besides recording the minor’s statement, to reconstruct what happened before and after the pair arrived at the hotel.
