Special Report: Islamists ‘welcome’ Hanuman Jayanti ShobhaYatra in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri with stones, rods, petrol bombs

New Delhi: Saturday (April 16) was special for Hindus the world over as they were busy celebrating the Hanuman Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Ram Bhakt Hanuman. In Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, a Shobha Yatra was organized to mark the occasion.

The peaceful Shobha Yatra came under sudden attack by Islamists when it was passing through the C-Block area in the evening around 6 pm.

The Yatra had the participation from many children, women and old people. As they could not gather themselves from the sudden stone pelting, many were injured in the attack.

After the stone pelting, the Muslim mob indulged in massive rioting and arson. And, all this happened in the presence of the Delhi Police.

Multiple videos have gone viral on social media platforms where the Muslim mob could be seen brandishing swords and shouting ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’.

A Delhi Police Sub-inspector was shot by Islamists and is admitted in Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.

The attack on the Shobha Yatra is very similar to the attacks on multiple Ram Navami celebrations in different parts of the country on April 10. The pattern is almost the same everywhere.

The Yatra passes through an area where there are a few Muslim houses and possibly a mosque. It comes under sudden stone pelting from the rooftops of Muslim houses and mosques.

Vikas*, a resident of Jahangirpuri who participated in the Shobha Yatra, said, “If this was not a pre-planned attack, why the mosque and Muslim households had so much stone when there was no construction going on?”

He further said that when the Yatra was passing through the C-Block, it came under sudden attack and people could not gather themselves. A thorough investigation of the mobile phone videos and CCTV cameras in the area will reveal how Muslims attacked the Shobha Yatra all of a sudden.

Another resident, who did not wish to be identified by his name, said that illegal Bangladeshi migrants and Rohingyas have almost captured the lanes and will ensure they are always dominant. They have multiple meat shops in the area and are provided facilities by the Delhi government.

He suggested that the solution to bring peace in the area is to check the activities of Islamists in the area, else it will remain a ghetto.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and North-West Delhi MP (Lok Sabha) Hans Raj Hans visited the area late night and took stock of the situation.

Terming the stone pelting on the Yatra a conspiracy, BJP MP from North-East Delhi Manoj Tiwari demanded strict action against the perpetrators.

“There has been stone pelting in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Hanuman Jayanti… This incident did not occur all of a sudden; it is a conspiracy. Police should immediately conduct a probe and take strictest action against the culprits. Though the situation is getting back to normal, there should be a thorough probe about who are the culprits, where the stones came from… Their houses should be checked for weapons, and their IDs. I can say with confidence that several incidents are taking place through a conspiracy. I would also request Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that this is not the time to shirk responsibility, but to work collectively and step forward to punish the culprits. Please maintain harmony,” Tiwari said.

In a statement on Saturday (April 16), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal blamed the Union government for the Law & Order situation in Delhi and asked the Union government to take steps to restore normalcy.

Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government and AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan had taken multiple steps to settle Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas in Delhi.
