BMS-NODE urges Government to protect Indian IT professionals affected by US green card and PERM developments

The National Organisation of Digital Employees (NODE), an All India Industrial Unit of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), has submitted a representation to three Union Ministers, seeking measures to protect Indian IT, ITeS and digital professionals who may be affected by recent developments relating to US green-card and PERM processing

NEW DELHI: The National Organisation of Digital Employees (NODE), an All India Industrial Unit of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), has submitted a representation to the Union Ministers of Electronics and Information Technology, External Affairs, and Labour and Employment, seeking appropriate measures to protect Indian IT, ITeS and digital professionals working in the United States.

NODE has expressed concern that the developments may create uncertainty regarding the employment, immigration status, income, family stability and long-term career plans of Indian professionals working in the United States.

BMS has urged the Government to issue an advisory to Indian IT and ITeS companies operating in the US, as well as US-headquartered multinational companies with establishments in India, encouraging them to protect employment wherever legally and operationally feasible. It has also called for opportunities to redeploy affected employees to suitable positions in India without avoidable breaks in service.

NODE has further urged companies to preserve employees’ service, benefits and applicable statutory entitlements, consider temporary financial and relocation support for affected employees and their families, provide immigration and legal assistance, establish confidential employee grievance mechanisms, and facilitate the re-skilling, up-skilling and rehabilitation of affected professionals.

BMS has also requested the Government to consider establishing a nodal helpdesk for affected employees and employers, consulting industry and labour organisations, and pursuing appropriate diplomatic engagement with the United States to ensure clarity, due process and protection of Indian professionals.

NODE reiterated its commitment to protecting the dignity, livelihood and legitimate interests of Indian digital employees and professionals while maintaining constructive engagement with employers and government authorities.
