New Delhi: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) observed a nationwide “Demand Day” on August 17, 2026, in accordance with the decision taken at its 161st Central Working Committee meeting held in Ranchi from July 26 to 28, 2026. As part of this, thousands of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Delhi Pradesh workers gathered at Jantar Mantar and demanded the immediate resolution of 11 pending demands of workers and employees from the Central Government.

A delegation from Delhi Pradesh met the Labour Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Union Labour Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. The memorandum stated that these demands are not limited to wages and allowances, but are related to social security, dignity of labour, protection of workers’ interests, fair remuneration, dignified working conditions and the economic security of employees and their families.

The 11 major demands raised in the memorandum were jointly presented by senior leaders.

National Organisation Secretary B Surendran Ji said, the minimum pension under EPS-95 should be increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 7,500 per month, along with VDA, and it should be linked with the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The Old Pension Scheme (OPS) should be restored. Appropriate amendments should be made to remove anti-worker provisions present in the new Labour Codes.

National Vice President Pawan Kumar Ji said, the ceiling limit for coverage under EPF, ESIC and bonus calculation should be doubled. Gratuity should be calculated on the basis of 30 days’ wages instead of 15 days’ wages, and the ceiling limit on it should be removed. Job security of LIC Development Officers should be ensured by implementing a “No Termination, No Decrement” policy.

Regional Organisation Secretary Anupam Ji said, The principle of “Equal Pay for Equal Work” should be implemented for all employees, including contract workers. Minimum wages should be increased in accordance with the rising cost of living. A five-day working system should be implemented in banks.

Delhi Pradesh General Secretary Dr Dipendra Chahar said, there should be a respectable increase in the honorarium of all types of scheme workers, including Anganwadi, ASHA, Mid-Day Meal, NHM and other scheme workers. The pending problems of workers and employees of Heavy Engineering Corporation, Ranchi, and 23 National Textile Mills in eight states should be resolved immediately.
