According to the complaint filed by the girl’s father at Phansidewa Police Station on October 2, the accused have been identified as Muhammad Aabtaar, Muhammad Alam and Muhammad Iltar. The complaint states that the minor was sexually assaulted repeatedly over a period of several months.

Girl blackmailed using videos

The complaint further states that Muhammad Yousuf, an acquaintance of the accused, recorded the first sexual assault. The footage was subsequently used to threaten and blackmail the minor, following which she was subjected to further sexual assaults.

The family of the accused has also been accused in the complaint of having knowledge of the offences and failing to report them to the authorities. These claims form part of the ongoing investigation.

Girl found to be around 12 weeks pregnant

The case came to light after the girl fell ill on October 1. She was taken to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where doctors found that she was approximately 12 weeks pregnant.

Police subsequently registered a case following the complaint by the girl’s family. According to police officials, the girl told her family that she had been raped multiple times and that videos of the assaults had been made and used to blackmail her.

Police arrested Muhammad Aabtaar, Muhammad Alam and Muhammad Iltar in connection with the case, and the accused were subsequently produced before the court.

The case has caused concern among residents in the area following the repeated sexual assault and blackmail of the minor. Local residents have also raised broader concerns regarding demographic changes and illegal settlement in the area. Some residents have further made allegations regarding inflammatory or anti-Hindu narratives allegedly being propagated locally. The immediate focus of the investigation remains the sexual assault of the minor, the alleged use of videos for blackmail and the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy. The investigation and subsequent court proceedings will establish the roles of the accused and determine whether others were involved. The case has renewed concerns over the safety of minors and the need for swift investigation and strict legal action in cases involving sexual violence and exploitation.
