Tiruvananthapuram Corporation has urged the city police to investigate the alleged forgery of building certificates and property tax receipts after officials detected two suspected fabricated documents submitted at its offices. Mayor V.V. Rajesh has complained to the City Police Commissioner, seeking legal action under Sections 335, 336 and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and a detailed probe into how the documents were prepared and submitted before the Corporation.
The Corporation has demanded action against those responsible for the alleged fraud and sought a detailed probe into the modus operandi, including who prepared the documents and how they were submitted before the Corporation.
The Corporation’s complaint says that the fraudulent documents were submitted before the Nemom zonal office and the main office of the Corporation.
The first case was traced when one Sameer visited the Nemom zonal office of the Corporation on September 19 to seek the details of the remittance of the regularisation fee for a building which allegedly belonged to Manzoor A.R.
But the Corporation reportedly found that the building certificate produced by Sameer was not genuine.
The receipt showing the payment of the regularisation fee was also found to be forged.
The Corporation records showed that the actual payer in connection with the building was one Rajeswary.
The Revenue Inspector of the Nemom zone examined the documents and found a mismatch. Therefore, copies of the documents in question have been forwarded to the police along with the complaint.
Another complaint is reported in connection with a property in Valiyavila. A person had approached the Corporation’s main office to pay property tax in the name of Kumari Latha S. When the officials verified the records, it was found that the receipt produced was allegedly forged. A copy of the receipt dated February 17, 2026, had been submitted to the police when the complaint was submitted.
The Corporation authorities said that the original documents and other records in connection with the cases would be produced before the investigation team.
Earlier, the new administration had unearthed several malpractices the CPM-led Left Democratic Front had committed during the last four and a half decades (1980 to 2025) consecutively. It has been reported that the Tiruvananthapuram Corporation is taking significant steps since the BJP took over the reins of it.
