In the early hours of 8 June 2026, a mob of around 10 to 12 men allegedly broke into the family’s home, assaulted the occupants, and looted cash and jewellery.
According to the family, the accused had been demanding five lakh taka from Shubh Biswas for an extended period. After he refused to pay, the group allegedly forced its way into the house and began looting the premises. When the attackers assaulted Shubh Biswas, his wife, Suchitra Biswas, intervened to protect him but was severely beaten. The attackers allegedly looted two lakh taka kept for Shubh Biswas’s business and snatched a gold chain from Suchitra Biswas during the assault. The woman stated that when she asked to meet his family and sought to see his Aadhaar card, the accused avoided her requests and later disappeared from Baddi. A 70-year-old Hindu saint, Sant Milan Das, was stabbed to death by Muslim youths following a dispute over the use of a loudspeaker during prayers at a temple under construction in Ghure Tola, Bangarmau, Unnao district, Uttar Pradesh.
Sant Milan Das had been overseeing the construction of the temple and regularly conducted prayers there. Local residents stated that some Muslim residents had repeatedly objected to the use of a loudspeaker during the temple’s religious activities. Following a complaint by the victim’s brother, Virendra Singh, Bangarmau Police registered a murder case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against five accused identified as Izrayal, Lalli, Yameen, Shanu and Shafi. 19. Ancient Shiv Mandir desecrated, Hindu devotees assaulted after objecting to garbage dumping in temple premises in Ambedkar Nagar

21. Temple priest faces threats after alleged encroachment on Hindu temple land in Sikar
The land of Shri Thakur Ji Sitaram Ji Mandir in Patan tehsil of Sikar, Rajasthan, was allegedly encroached upon by unidentified individuals on 10 June 2026. The accused allegedly entered around 9.76 hectares of temple land with tractors and agricultural equipment and attempted to begin farming on the disputed property.
Mahant Balbir Das, the head priest of the temple, objected to the alleged encroachment and filed a complaint with the police. According to the complaint, the accused abused him and threatened him with serious consequences when he opposed the activity. The mahant stated that he feared for his safety.
In his complaint, Mahant Balbir Das also alleged that attempts were made to carry out illegal transactions related to temple land through forged documents. He further stated that similar attempts to interfere with the temple’s traditions and property had taken place earlier.

A minor Hindu girl in Purnia, Bihar, was allegedly deceived, sexually exploited, and blackmailed by Raja Khan, a Muslim man who had introduced himself as “Raja” and concealed his identity. According to the case details, he later revealed himself as Raja Khan from Narayanpur in Bhagalpur district.
The accused had reportedly first come into contact with the girl in Purnia, later moved to Delhi, and remained in touch with her. On 10 June 2026, he travelled from Delhi to Purnia to meet her, arrived at Purnia Junction, and took her to the Kala Bhavan complex in Purnia city.
At the complex, local residents questioned him after growing suspicious, and his identity was exposed. 24. Hindu man in Muzaffarnagar forced to convert after blackmail and threats by Muslims
A Hindu man named Ravish Kumar from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly forced to convert to Islam after being drugged, blackmailed, and threatened by Muslim individuals, according to a complaint filed by his wife.
According to the complaint, Ravish Kumar, who belongs to the Dalit community, had visited the residence of a Muslim mother-daughter duo in Mehmood Nagar in connection with his work at a finance company. The accused allegedly drugged him, recorded obscene photographs and videos, and later used the material to blackmail him.

25. Hindu villagers in Jhunjhunu allege inducement-based religious conversion attempts
Residents of Khiror village in Nawalgarh tehsil of Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan, alleged that Hindu villagers were being lured and induced for religious conversion.
Following information about the alleged conversion activities, hundreds of residents gathered at the Balaji temple in the village market on 9 June 2026 and passed a resolution to keep the village market closed until administrative action was taken.
According to villagers, Ashok Kumar, a resident of Parsarampura, was allegedly involved in inducing people from surrounding villages to convert to another faith. They also alleged that his wife Sonia was involved in the activity. Villagers stated that Ashok Kumar was in police custody for three days, while Sonia had been arrested and later released.
The residents demanded strict action against those allegedly involved and sought the re-arrest of Sonia. They decided to submit memoranda to the Tehsildar, Sub Divisional Officer, District Collector, and the Chief Minister of Rajasthan regarding their demands.
The market closure continued from 10 June 2026, with villagers stating that it would remain in place until the administration took concrete action. At the time of reporting, no further information regarding additional arrests or administrative action was available.
26. Hindu villagers in Kabirdham allege conversion attempts through healing promises and intimidation
Residents of Lalmati village under Taregaon police station area of Kabirdham district, Chhattisgarh, alleged that Hindu villagers, including members of the Baiga tribal community, were targeted for religious conversion through healing promises and prayer meetings.
According to complaints submitted to police, local pastors and Christian religious figures allegedly encouraged vulnerable Hindu families to adopt Christianity by promising recovery from illnesses and relief from personal difficulties through prayer. The matter came to light after villagers and Hindu organisations objected to prayer gatherings being conducted inside a closed room and alleged that conversion activities were taking place there.
A Baiga tribal woman stated in her complaint that her son was suffering from a prolonged illness when two individuals allegedly approached the family and encouraged them to convert. She alleged that they assured the family that their problems would be resolved through faith in Jesus Christ and claimed that her son’s health would improve after conversion.
The woman further alleged that after the family decided to return to Sanatan Dharma when her son’s condition did not improve, individuals associated with the conversion effort pressured and intimidated them. She claimed that people visited their home, threatened them with legal action, and warned them of consequences.
Other villagers also raised similar allegations, stating that people who returned to Hinduism after conversion faced pressure and harassment. Following objections by Hindu organisations, a dispute occurred in the village, after which complaints were filed from both sides.

A few days before the Collectorate incident, the woman alleged that her brother-in-law invited her to a house in Aramsheen, where he sexually assaulted her.
After the self-immolation attempt, police took the woman for questioning and handed her over to Navabad Police Station. An inquiry was initiated into her allegations, including claims of conversion pressure, removal from the family home, matters related to her children, and other complaints raised by her. The matter remained under investigation.
29. Minor Hindu Girl Deceived Into Relationship by Muslim Man Using False Hindu Identity in Chapar, Assam
A minor Hindu girl in Mahishbathan village under the Shalkocha area of Chapar, Assam, was allegedly deceived into a relationship by a Muslim youth identified as Mainul Sheikh, who allegedly presented himself as a Hindu.
According to reports, Mainul Sheikh introduced himself as Riju Sarkar and stayed at the house of a Hindu family for several months while concealing his religious identity. During this period, he allegedly developed a relationship with the minor girl belonging to the family.
The matter came to light after local residents raised concerns about his identity and informed the police. During verification, Mainul Sheikh allegedly disclosed his actual identity. Local residents and members of the International Hindu Parishad and National Bajrang Dal later protested outside the Shalkocha police station, alleging that the police had not conducted a proper investigation into the matter.
The minor girl’s mother also alleged that Mainul Sheikh had taken ₹2 lakh from the family on the pretext of purchasing a vehicle and stated that no action had been taken regarding the matter. Concerns were also raised after the presence of multiple CCTV cameras at the house where he had been staying came to light, though their purpose remained unclear.

According to his family members, Narayan Roy left his home around noon to attend private tuition but did not return. Family members searched for him at nearby locations but could not find any information about his whereabouts.

Following his complaint, police registered a case against three accused and arrested the woman, identified as Yasmin, wife of Mahir Ali and a resident of Mohalla Sayyadan in Aonla, Bareilly. Police stated that a fake Aadhaar card bearing the name of a Hindu woman was recovered from her possession.
According to the complaint filed by Puneet Kumar, a resident of Madayya Nadarbag, he was looking for a marriage proposal and approached his maternal uncle Vijay Singh for assistance. Vijay Singh contacted his friend Kallu, who introduced him to Ram Singh for arranging the marriage.
The accused allegedly told Puneet Kumar that they would arrange his marriage with a Hindu woman named Riya Gupta from Haridwar and demanded ₹1 lakh for the arrangement. On 11 June 2026, Puneet Kumar and his uncle travelled to Bareilly with the money, where the woman introduced herself as Riya Gupta and produced an Aadhaar card bearing the same name. After receiving ₹1 lakh, the marriage was solemnised.
According to police investigation, the woman had allegedly concealed her identity and posed as Riya Gupta with the assistance of Ram Singh and Kallu. After wedding rituals were performed at Puneet Kumar’s house on 12 June 2026, she allegedly attempted to leave with jewellery and other valuables before the wedding night. She was stopped by the family members, following which a dispute occurred and she disclosed her identity as Yasmin.
The family informed police after she allegedly attempted to leave the house. Civil Lines police registered a case of fraud and assault, arrested Yasmin, and initiated further action against the other accused allegedly involved in arranging the marriage through deception.
32. Hindu mandir in Muzaffarnagar Desecrated as Miscreants Consume Alcohol Inside Premises, Priest Dies After Assault
In Begrajpur village of Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu Ravidas temple was allegedly desecrated after two men consumed alcohol inside its premises. When temple priest Natthan Singh, aged 45, objected to the act, he was allegedly assaulted. He later died during treatment on 11 June 2026.
Following a complaint filed by Natthan Singh’s nephew, Sagar Singh, police registered a case and arrested the two accused, identified as Aniket and Arun. Police stated that both accused were arrested on the night of 12 June 2026 after an encounter in which they sustained gunshot injuries to their legs.
According to Khatauli Circle Officer Rupali Rao, the accused were attempting to flee on a motorcycle when police teams conducted checking near the Begrajpur underpass based on information received. Police alleged that the accused attempted to escape and opened fire when signalled to stop, following which both were injured and taken into custody.
Police stated that during interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. Further legal proceedings were initiated based on the evidence collected during the investigation.
33. Hindu Villagers Targeted for Conversion Through Christian Healing Meeting in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir, Hindu Deities Allegedly Denigrated
In Udayband village of Janjgir-Champa district, Chhattisgarh, Hindu residents were allegedly targeted for religious conversion during a Christian healing meeting held at the residence of Badrinath Bareth on 11 June 2026. The gathering was conducted by Pastor Ratharam Mahilange and his associate, where attendees were allegedly promised cures for illnesses through prayers and blessed water in the name of Jesus Christ.
According to complaints, Hindu residents from the village were invited to the meeting, where Christian religious teachings were delivered and Bibles along with other Christian literature were distributed. During the gathering, the pastor allegedly made remarks against Hindu deities, stating that Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu could not help devotees while claiming that water associated with Jesus Christ could cure diseases.
After members of Hindu organisations received information about the gathering, they approached the venue and submitted a complaint to the police. Satish Soni, district contact chief of the Hindu Jagran Manch, lodged a written complaint following which City Kotwali Police initiated an investigation.
Acting on the complaint, police raided the venue and detained Pastor Ratharam Mahilange and homeowner Badrinath Bareth. Christian religious literature, including copies of the Bible and other documents related to preaching, was seized from the premises.
Police registered a case under Sections 299 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Both accused were arrested, produced before a court, and sent to judicial custody.

34. Dalit Hindu Man Stabbed After Dispute in East Delhi, Family Alleges Attackers Targeted Them Over Hindu Identity
In Bhikam Singh Colony area under Farsh Bazar Police Station in East Delhi, a Hindu youth and his uncle were allegedly attacked by a group of people following a minor road dispute on 12 June 2026. The victims alleged that the attackers targeted them because they were Hindus and belonged to the Dalit community.
According to the complaint, Hindu youth Vansh was travelling through a lane with his friend when he asked some youths standing on the road to move aside. The youths allegedly became aggressive, pulled Vansh and his companion out of the vehicle, assaulted them, and used caste-based remarks.
Vansh then called his uncle Kuldeep, who reached the spot and intervened. Later, after returning home, a group of around 30 to 35 people allegedly arrived outside their residence carrying knives, iron rods, and sticks. The family alleged that when Kuldeep came outside to speak to the group, he was attacked with knives and suffered injuries to his chest and neck. Vansh was also allegedly assaulted. Both were taken to Dr Hedgewar Hospital for treatment.
The victims and their family alleged that the attackers made remarks questioning how a Dalit Hindu could speak to them in a raised voice and claimed that they were targeted because of their Hindu identity and caste background.
Kuldeep’s wife further alleged that a police constable, Nafis, was present during the incident but did not intervene. She claimed that despite repeated requests for help, the officer failed to stop the assault and recorded the incident. The family also alleged that their emergency calls did not receive timely assistance.
Following complaints by the victims’ family, police registered a case and initiated an investigation. Senior police officials stated that the matter was being investigated and that action would be taken against the accused. They also stated that if any police officer’s involvement or negligence was established, appropriate action would be taken.

Government land reserved for a Hindu temple in Birkaji village of Phulpur, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly encroached upon by individuals, with villagers alleging involvement of local officials in facilitating the occupation.
According to villagers, Premchand and Suresh Chandra had allegedly occupied the land reserved for the temple. They further alleged that Muslim accountant Shafiq Ahmed helped in securing the illegal encroachment. Villagers stated that the land was being occupied with the involvement of influential individuals.
The matter came to light after residents approached Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alleging that their complaints to local authorities had not resulted in action. Villagers had earlier submitted written complaints to the Phulpur SDM and Prayagraj District Magistrate regarding the alleged encroachment.

A 14-year-old Hindu girl from Hanumannagar area under Moro police station in Darbhanga, Bihar, was allegedly abducted by a Muslim man, Talik Raza, on the pretext of marriage and taken towards the Nepal border with the alleged intention of converting her to Islam and marrying her.
According to the complaint and police investigation, the accused allegedly lured the minor girl into a relationship by promising marriage. On 12 June 2026, he allegedly abducted her and began taking her towards the Nepal border. During interrogation after her recovery, the girl stated that the accused used psychological pressure and told her that returning to her parents would lead to punishment. She also alleged that she was pressured to convert to Islam and undergo Nikah with him.
The matter came to light after police launched an investigation and recovered the girl near the Nepal border in the Sonvarsha police station area of Sitamarhi district. Talik Raza was arrested from the same location. Police produced him before the court and sent him to judicial custody. The minor was medically examined, and her statement was recorded before a magistrate.
The victim was a minor Hindu girl, while the accused, Talik Raza, son of Shahzad Ali from Therma Gaighat, Muzaffarpur, was identified as the sole accused in the case. The case was registered, and further legal proceedings were initiated.
40. Hindu man abducted and pressured for religious conversion by Muslim wife’s family in Unnao
A Hindu man, Raja Tiwari, was allegedly abducted and assaulted by members of his Muslim wife’s family in Unnao district, Uttar Pradesh, nearly nine years after his interfaith marriage. According to the complaint, he was taken to a mosque and pressured to convert to Islam, consume cow meat and undergo circumcision.
Raja Tiwari’s wife, Roshni, stated in her police complaint that she had married him according to Hindu customs in 2017 and had been living with him since then. She alleged that her relatives had opposed the marriage and remained hostile towards the couple.
According to the complaint, on 12 June 2026, several of Roshni’s relatives, identified as Nabi Alam, Raunak, Nabi Sher, Shabbar and others, intercepted Raja Tiwari and forcibly took him away. He was allegedly beaten with sticks and rods before being taken to a mosque, where attempts were made to pressure him to abandon Hinduism and embrace Islam.
The complaint further alleged that Raja Tiwari was compelled to offer namaz and pressured to consume beef and undergo circumcision. When he refused, he was allegedly assaulted further and sustained injuries. Roshni, who tried to intervene, was also allegedly beaten and suffered injuries to her leg.
The accused allegedly threatened the couple with serious consequences. Following the incident, the couple approached the police and sought legal action. Based on Roshni’s complaint, FIR No. 355/2026 was registered at Kotwali Police Station, Unnao, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The couple underwent medical examination, and police initiated an investigation. Three accused were taken into custody for questioning, while the involvement of others was being examined.
Raja Tiwari was the victim in the case, while Nabi Alam, Raunak, Nabi Sher, Shabbar and others were named as accused. The accused were identified as male members of the Muslim community. The case was under investigation and legal proceedings were ongoing.
41. Man arrested for posting derogatory remarks against Hindu deities and Brahmin community on social media
A man named Prabhu Dayal, a resident of Bahadurpur village under Kotwali Dehat police station limits in Balrampur district, Uttar Pradesh, was accused of posting derogatory and indecent remarks about Hindu deities and the Brahmin community on social media.
According to the complaint, Prabhu Dayal had shared objectionable content through his Facebook account and had allegedly made similar posts earlier as well. The matter came to light after members of the Savarna Army organisation noticed the posts and approached the police.
Abhay Kumar Shukla, district president of the organisation, submitted a written complaint stating that the remarks had hurt Hindu religious sentiments and insulted revered Hindu deities. Following the complaint, police registered a case against the accused under relevant legal provisions, including sections of the Information Technology Act.

42. Hindu man who left Islam receives death threats and abuse over conversion to Hinduism in Lucknow
A Hindu man, Jitendra Narayan Singh Sengar alias Tyagi, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, alleged that he received death threats from a Muslim man after leaving Islam and adopting Hinduism. The accused, identified as Shadab Mirza alias Batishtha, allegedly circulated a doctored video of him on social media and used the term “murtad” while issuing threats.
Jitendra Narayan Singh Sengar, formerly known as Syed Waseem Rizvi, had publicly adopted Hinduism in December 2021 and taken the name Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi. He had earlier served as chairman of the Shia Central Waqf Board in Uttar Pradesh.
According to his complaint, on 13 June 2026, Shadab Mirza edited and circulated an old video of him through his Facebook account. The post allegedly contained abusive language, derogatory references and threats to kill him. The accused allegedly referred to him as “murtad”, a term used for a person who leaves Islam.
Jitendra stated that the posts were intended to create hostility against him and posed a threat to his and his family’s safety. He submitted screenshots and other material related to the posts to the police and alleged that the threats were made to disturb peace in the city.
Following the complaint, Sahadatganj Police Station registered a case and initiated an investigation. Station House Officer Santosh Arya stated that further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

A Hindu woman and her teenage daughter were murdered in a brutal attack by unidentified assailants at their residence in the Chenamati Baruapara area of Parikoda Union in Anwara, Chittagong district, Bangladesh. The incident occurred during the night of 13 June 2026.
The victims were identified as Annie Barua (40) and her daughter Priyanti Barua (16). According to reports, both sustained multiple sharp weapon injuries. Annie Barua was found injured while carrying her five-year-old son, Pias Barua, outside the house. She collapsed and died shortly after. Inside the house, neighbours found the body of Priyanti Barua. The injured child was rescued and admitted to Anwara Upazila Health Complex.
The victim’s husband and Priyanti’s father, Sujan Barua, who was working as a security guard in Chittagong city at the time of the incident, said he received information about the attack through relatives and demanded strict action against those responsible.
Police officials inspected the crime scene and sent the bodies to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. They confirmed that the deceased victims had sustained multiple sharp weapon injuries and stated that efforts were underway to identify and arrest those involved. Police also said that the injured child was out of danger.
The incident left three victims from the same Hindu family affected. Annie Barua and Priyanti Barua were killed, while five-year-old Pias Barua was injured. The perpetrators involved in the attack remain unidentified, and the case status is under investigation.
45. Hindu Woman Taken Away from Assam After Man Concealed His Religious Identity
A Hindu young woman from Philobari in Tinsukia district, Assam, was taken away from her home after developing contact with a Muslim man who allegedly concealed his religious identity and introduced himself as a Hindu.
The man was identified as Sheikh Shakil Siddiqui, a resident of Kakjan village in Tinsukia district. According to the complaint by the woman’s family, he introduced himself as “Sameer” and presented himself as a Hindu while communicating with the victim over the telephone and developing familiarity with her.
The victim’s father stated that Sheikh Shakil Siddiqui’s father had earlier worked at their residence, following which the accused became acquainted with the Hindu woman. The family alleged that the accused continued the relationship while hiding his actual identity and name.
The family later found that the woman had left Assam with Sheikh Shakil Siddiqui and travelled towards Bihar. They approached Philobari Police Station and complained that their daughter had been taken away by a man who had allegedly used a false identity.
Following the complaint, police initiated efforts to trace the woman and the accused. The search led authorities to Muzaffarnagar railway station in Bihar, where the woman was recovered. Sheikh Shakil Siddiqui was taken into police custody, and further investigation was initiated into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The victim details included one adult Hindu woman, who was safely recovered. The accused, Sheikh Shakil Siddiqui, was identified as the sole male perpetrator, and the case status remained under investigation after his arrest.
46. Hindu villagers in Pilibhit targeted through exorcism practices in suspected conversion attempt
In Rampura Fakire village of Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh, Hindu villagers were allegedly targeted for religious conversion by individuals who presented themselves as practitioners of exorcism and traditional healing. The accused persons were reportedly from Lakhimpur Kheri district and had been visiting the village for an extended period.
According to the complaint, the individuals claimed to cure ailments and remove evil spirits through rituals, charms and other practices. It was alleged that these activities were used to gain the trust of Hindu families and influence them towards religious conversion.
The accused were identified as Vittu/Bittu Sanam, her husband Vinod, the son of Dullu, Ashish Saxena and others. They allegedly approached villagers while presenting themselves as healers. In one reported incident, Mamta, mother of Pinky, stated that the accused approached her daughter on the pretext of seeking alms and performed exorcism-related activities on her, causing fear among the girl.
After villagers raised concerns over the activities, workers and office-bearers of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal reached the village and submitted a written complaint at Madhotanda police station, naming the accused persons and seeking legal action.
Following the complaint, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Four individuals were taken into custody for questioning, and an investigation was initiated to verify the allegations. Police stated that further legal action would be taken after examining the facts of the case. At the time of reporting, no FIR had been registered.
47. Hindu villagers and minor students in Rajnandgaon subjected to conversion activities through church operating on school premises
In Paneka village of Rajnandgaon district, Chhattisgarh, Hindu villagers and minor students of Mar Gregorius Memorial Public School (MGM) were allegedly subjected to religious conversion activities through a church operating on the school premises.
According to a memorandum submitted by Hindu Jagran Manch to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police, Rajnandgaon, the church was established on the school campus without separate government or statutory approval and was being used for weekly prayer gatherings. The organisation alleged that these gatherings were also being used to target Hindu students and local residents for conversion.
The memorandum stated that individuals from outside the village were called to the school premises every Sunday for prayer meetings. It further alleged that students studying at the school were being subjected to conversion efforts, causing resentment among local Hindu residents.
Hindu Jagran Manch demanded an investigation into the matter, registration of an FIR against those responsible, and an immediate halt to the alleged conversion activities. The organisation also sought the formation of a Special Investigation Committee to examine the allegations.
The memorandum was submitted in the presence of several organisation members and workers. Police and district authorities were requested to take action in the matter. At the time of reporting, no official response from the administration or police had been recorded.
48. Hindu family’s house attacked and set on fire in Bangladesh’s Thakurgaon
A Hindu family’s house was attacked, looted, vandalised and set on fire in Dhangaon village under Bakua Union No. 3 of Haripur Upazila in Thakurgaon District, Bangladesh, creating panic among local residents.
According to the complaint filed by the victim family, a group of unidentified miscreants attacked the residence of Shri Deven Chandra Roy, son of Shri Jagesh Chandra Roy, on 13 June 2026. The attackers allegedly entered the house, looted cash and valuables, and took away cattle belonging to the family.
The family stated that the attack was carried out after they did not attend a local arbitration meeting. They alleged that the attackers vandalised household items before setting the house on fire, causing damage to furniture and other belongings.
Following the incident, local administration officials visited the spot and assured the family that the matter would be investigated and necessary legal action would be taken. Local residents demanded a fair investigation, identification and arrest of those responsible, along with security for the affected Hindu family.
The case was registered after a complaint was filed, and the identity of the attackers remained unknown at the time of reporting.
49. Hindu temples vandalised and sacred idols desecrated in Bangladesh’s Bogura
Three Hindu temples in the Kanchagari area under Deuli Union of Mokamtala Upazila in Bogura District, Bangladesh, were vandalised by unidentified miscreants, with sacred idols of Hindu deities damaged inside the temples.
The incident came to light when local Hindus arrived to perform their regular prayers on 13 June 2026 and found the idols at the Shiva Temple, Shitala Mata Temple and Kali Temple, located within the Kanchagari Mahashamshan complex, broken and scattered.
According to Ujjwal, a member of the Mahashamshan Management Committee, the damage was first noticed by his wife when she entered the Shiva Temple with a puja basket for monthly worship. The matter was subsequently informed to local administration, residents and the Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad.
Acting Mokamtala Upazila Executive Officer Ziaur Rahman visited the affected temples and inspected the damage. Subir Kumar Dutta, General Secretary of Shibganj Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad, condemned the incident and demanded identification and arrest of those responsible along with security for Hindu places of worship.
Almas Hossain, officer-in-charge of the Mokamtala Police Investigation Centre, stated that the perpetrators had not been identified at the time of reporting. Police initiated an investigation to trace those involved and take further action.
50. Three Muslim youths booked for posting derogatory remarks against Shri Ram and Hindu saints on social media in Bahraich
Three Muslim youths, identified as Yasin Mohammad, Razzab Ali and Firoz Ansari, were booked in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh after allegedly posting derogatory remarks against Lord Ram and Hindu saints on social media.
The remarks led to anger among members of Hindu organisations, who approached Nawabganj Police Station and demanded action against those responsible. A complaint was submitted by Radhika Raman, divisional president of the Hindu Security Service Association, along with Manish Pandey, following which police registered an FIR against the three accused and initiated an investigation.

51. Controversy over nutrition poster recommending cow meat for infants at government hospital in Navi Mumbai
A controversy arose at Vashi Public Hospital in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, after a nutrition guide displayed at the government-run hospital included cow meat among recommended foods for infants aged 9 to 11 months.
The poster titled “Complementary Feeding Guide for Age 9 to 11 Months”, issued by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), mentioned finely chopped meat including chicken, mutton and cow meat as part of the suggested diet for infants. The display of the poster led to objections from Hindu organisations, who stated that the recommendation hurt Hindu religious sentiments.
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) state coordinator Sunil Ghanwat submitted a written complaint to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking action against those responsible for preparing the nutrition guide and officials associated with the IAP and Vashi Public Hospital. The organisation also submitted a memorandum to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, with a copy sent to the Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner.
Separately, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) demanded legal action against those responsible for displaying the poster. According to the organisation, activist Rohit Khandagale noticed the poster at the Municipal Corporation Hospital in Vashi, following which VHP activists removed it and submitted a complaint at Vashi Police Station.

He stated that every Hindu home contained a “potential murderer” or “potential rapist” and attributed such tendencies to what he described as the “mass radicalisation” of Hindus.
The discussion also included remarks alleging that Hindu society was associated with violence, casteism, and hostility towards minorities. Hindu religious practices, festivals, and organisations were criticised, with Hindu groups such as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bajrang Dal also being mentioned during the discussion.
The remarks were made on a public platform and focused on Hindus as a religious community rather than specific individuals. The statements drew criticism for portraying Hindus collectively through negative stereotypes and associating Hindu identity with criminality and violence.
Apoorvanand’s previous public comments on Hindu religious expressions and festivals were also referred to by critics, who alleged that his remarks reflected a pattern of hostility towards Hindu concerns. These allegations were based on his earlier writings and public statements.
The incident has been categorised as hate speech against Hindus, with the complainants alleging that the remarks promoted anti-Hindu prejudice and mocked Hindu religious identity.

53. Hindu community referred to as “toxic” by Samajwadi Party MP during political gathering in Moradabad
Hindu sentiments were hurt after Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Javed Ali Khan referred to the majority community as “jahreela” (poisonous/toxic) during a political gathering in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.
While addressing party workers and supporters at a PDA convention on 14 June 2026, Javed Ali Khan spoke about the BJP’s political influence and alleged that it had spread “poison” among the majority community, leading to social divisions and weakening trust between communities.
During his speech, he said, “Jahreela ho gaya hai bahusankhyak samaj” (The majority community has become poisonous/toxic), while discussing political developments and social relations in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.
He further stated that the Samajwadi Party would strengthen its organisational presence and outreach in areas where minority populations were comparatively smaller and where, according to him, greater political engagement was required.
The remarks drew criticism for describing the Hindu majority community through a negative characterisation. The incident was categorised as hate speech against Hindus under allegations of anti-Hindu slurs and prejudicial remarks.
The accused in the incident is Javed Ali Khan, a male politician associated with the Samajwadi Party. The case status remains unknown.
54. Muslim man arrested for posing as Hindu and deceiving Hindu women through fake identity in Ahmedabad
A Muslim man, Karim Rafiqbhai Sipaani, was arrested by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch after a Hindu widow alleged that he deceived her by posing as a Hindu man named “Aditya Patel” on a matrimonial website.
According to the complaint, the accused presented himself as a businessman and allegedly used fabricated identity documents, including Aadhaar card, PAN card, ration card and driving licence, bearing the name Aditya Patel, to establish trust with the woman. The woman remained in contact with him for around four to five months before suspecting his identity after his name appeared as Karim on Truecaller.
The woman later verified the address mentioned in the documents and found that no person named Aditya Patel resided there. She approached Bajrang Dal members, who stated that their inquiry revealed the accused’s actual identity as Karim Rafiqbhai Sipaani, a resident of Kadi, Gujarat.
During a press conference, Bajrang Dal representatives stated that the accused was already married and had allegedly used the fake identity of a Hindu man to approach widowed and divorced Hindu women on matrimonial platforms. They further claimed that his mobile phone contained chats with several women, objectionable photographs and videos, and profiles of more than twenty Hindu women.
A case was registered at the Ahmedabad West Women’s Crime Branch following the woman’s complaint. Police arrested Karim Rafiqbhai Sipaani and began investigating whether other women were similarly deceived through fabricated identities and forged documents.
The accused, Karim Rafiqbhai Sipaani, is a male resident of Gujarat. The case status is recorded as arrested. The available information identifies one complainant and indicates that more than twenty Hindu women were allegedly targeted.
