New Delhi – The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited online applications for direct recruitment to various posts in the Government of India. Along with the recruitment notification, the Commission has also released the UPSC 2027 examination calendar, giving aspirants an early schedule for major examinations, including the Civil Services, NDA, CDS, Engineering Services and Combined Medical Services exams. Eligible candidates can apply for the advertised posts through the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal from July 25 to August 14, 2026. UPSC has clarified that applications will be accepted only through the ORA portal and no offline applications will be entertained.

According to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release, UPSC has uploaded Advertisement No. 09/2026 and Special Advertisement No. 51/2026 on its official website. Eligible candidates can submit online applications through the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal from July 25 to August 14, 2026. To apply, click here – UPSC.

Unlike recruitment through examinations such as Civil Services or Engineering Services, these vacancies are filled through UPSC’s direct recruitment process, where candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their qualifications, experience and eligibility prescribed for individual posts. Depending on the post, the selection process may include shortlisting, interviews or recruitment tests.

The detailed notifications contain post-wise information on vacancies, educational qualifications, age limit, experience, reservation, pay level and selection procedure. UPSC has advised candidates to carefully read the eligibility conditions before applying, as each post has its own requirements.

Why the UPSC Calendar Matters?

The early release of the UPSC examination calendar 2027 allows candidates to plan their preparation months in advance, especially those planning to appear for multiple UPSC examinations in 2027. This will be useful for coaching institutes, universities and working professionals as they can align their study schedules and training programmes around confirmed examination dates.

At the same time, the direct recruitment notification offers an alternative route into the Central Government for candidates with specialised educational qualifications and professional experience who may not necessarily be preparing for competitive examinations like the Civil Services Examination.

UPSC has advised applicants to rely only on the official advertisements and website for recruitment-related information. The Commission has also clarified that the dates of notifications, application deadlines and UPSC examinations may be revised if administrative requirements arise.
