PUNE: In a shocking case widely reported in the Marathi media that has sparked widespread outrage, a 21-year-old college-going woman from Viman Nagar locality of Pune was reportedly subjected to repeated sexual assault by four Muslim youths who happened to be her recent acquaintances over the course of nearly one year.
According to police and news reports in Divya Marathi and ABP Maaza (Marathi), the victim enrolled in a reputed college in Pune in 2025, where she was befriended by Farhan Sheikh.
What began as friendship allegedly turned exploitative. Farhan and his three associates (viz. Fazal Sheikh, Rehan Sheikh, and Sahil) are accused of repeatedly assaulting her at various locations.
The men allegedly recorded obscene videos and used threats (to post them online and make them go viral) as a tool to blackmail her to comply silently as they continued the abuse.
The victim eventually filed a complaint at Wagholi Police Station. Acting swiftly, police arrested all four accused. Investigation is underway, and further details are expected as the probe progresses.
The incident has highlighted growing concerns over women’s safety in educational institutions and the misuse of trust and social connections for exploitation in the city. The case remains under active police investigation.
