Guwahati: Indian Army has helped numerous meritorious students to achieve the dream of being a doctor in the Northeastern region. This is the stellar saga of the NIEDO centre in Tinsukia, Assam which is helping dozens of young minds crack the NEET exam.
The Red Shield Division, under the aegis of Spear Corps, continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of underprivileged youth by supporting the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), Tinsukia. NIEDO provides free residential coaching to meritorious students from economically weaker families, preparing them for NEET and enabling them to pursue careers in the medical profession.
The initiative has achieved a remarkable milestone in NEET 2026, with 30 out of 45 students from the Tinsukia centre successfully qualifying the examination, thereby becoming eligible for admission to medical colleges across the country. Among the successful candidates, Roshan Kujur, a resident of Dighaltarrang Tea Estate, Tinsukia, secured an impressive 402 marks in NEET 2026.
Having lost his father at a very young age, Roshan faced life’s challenges with remarkable resilience, while his elder brother, who runs a small shop in Tinsukia, became the sole breadwinner of the family. His achievement is a true reflection of grit, sacrifice and perseverance and stands as an inspiration for countless young aspirants striving to overcome adversity through education.
His success reflects the dedication and perseverance of the students, the guidance provided by the faculty and mentors, and the sustained support extended by the Indian Army. The achievement stands as a testament to the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to education, youth empowerment and nation-building.
4 days Army recruitment rally
The Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Narangi in Guwahatu has also announced that it will conduct the “Central and Zonal Category” Army Recruitment Rally at Military Station Narangi, Guwahati, from August 5 to August 8, 2026 for shortlisted candidates from all North Eastern states under the Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Shillong.
The rally is being organised for candidates applying under various categories, including Religious Teacher JCO, Havildar (Education), Soldier Technical Nursing Assistant, Sepoy Pharma, Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical (SKT) and Agniveer Women Military Police (WMP).
According to ARO Narangi, all shortlisted candidates are required to report at Panjabari Gate, Military Station Narangi, at 0400 AM on their respective rally dates as indicated on their admit cards. Candidates must carry their Admit Card along with all original documents specified in the rally notification.
Candidates who have not yet received their admit cards or are facing difficulties in downloading them have been advised to approach Army Recruiting Office, Narangi, for necessary assistance. The Army has urged all shortlisted candidates to strictly adhere to the reporting schedule and ensure they possess all required documents to facilitate a smooth recruitment process, said Col Mahindra Rawat, PRO Defence, Guwahati.
