LUCKNOW: VHP International Working President Alok Kumar said that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had put in place multiple layers of security and supervision for donation counting and has itself sought an SIT probe to ensure that any doubts are addressed transparently.

Speaking on the issue, Alok Kumar said, “We had obtained information from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. At the time when the arrangements there were being set up, discussions were also held and efforts were made to establish a structural system in such a way that all security measures were in place and no lapse could occur. We were informed that the entire process should be carried out in front of CCTV cameras or other video cameras. That was done.”

He said, “A joint duty arrangement involving the bank staff and the Teerth Kshetra employees was also put in place. That too was done. It was also decided that there should be supervision over the process, and two supervisors were appointed for this purpose. Therefore, the experts at that time had assured us that with these arrangements in place, the money could be counted properly and recorded accurately. All of that was done.”

He further said, “Now, when these reports appeared through the media, it was felt that one should not rely solely on an internal audit. Even if there is any suspicion, it should be resolved. Therefore, the Teerth Kshetra requested the Chief Minister to constitute an SIT in this matter. The Chief Minister accepted our request.”

Alok Kumar stated that the three members appointed to the SIT hold high-ranking positions and that the police officer included in it has extensive experience and study in investigating economic and financial crimes.

He said, “The Teerth Kshetra has stated that the SIT has been constituted at its request. It will extend full cooperation to the investigation. The objective is to reach the truth of this matter, whatever that truth may be. If any individuals are found guilty, they should receive adequate, complete and the strictest possible punishment through the due process of law.”

Alok Kumar added, “The Trust accepts its responsibility for every single rupee belonging to Shri Ram. It will pursue this matter to its very depths and take it to its logical conclusion, whatever the outcome may be.”
