New Delhi: In a disturbing incident that has ignited fierce public outrage, an elderly Muslim man was caught on camera urinating inside a lift at Kalkaji Metro Station in the national capital, directly in front of two women passengers. The video, shared by one of the women on Instagram, has gone massively viral, sparking widespread condemnation and renewed debate over deteriorating civic sense and women’s safety in public spaces.Deepshika Mehta, who was one of the two women present in the lift, detailed the shocking episode in her Instagram post. “Imagine entering a metro lift and seeing a man casually peeing inside it in front of two girls. This happened at Kalkaji Metro Station,” she wrote, capturing the horror and disbelief felt by the victims.

According to Mehta, she confronted the man on the platform after the incident. In response, he brazenly told her, “Tum karlo jo karna hai” — translated as “Do what you want.” The dismissive and defiant reply has only intensified public anger, with many viewing it as emblematic of a broader collapse in public decency and accountability. The incident has triggered a massive social media storm, with thousands of users expressing outrage and demanding strict action.

Many have questioned the effectiveness of surveillance and security measures at busy Metro stations, while others have highlighted the vulnerability women face in everyday urban commutes. Both the Delhi Police and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have taken cognizance of the viral video and initiated necessary steps.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the station and have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken against the accused. The DMRC has also stated that it is investigating the lapse in security protocols that allowed such an incident to occur inside its premises.

This episode has once again brought to the forefront pressing concerns about public hygiene, civic responsibility, and the safety of women in Delhi’s public infrastructure. Netizens have called for stricter enforcement of laws, better training for security personnel, and stronger awareness campaigns to instill basic civic sense among citizens. As the video continues to circulate widely, pressure is mounting on authorities to act swiftly and decisively. Many are watching closely to see whether this case results in exemplary punishment or fades into another statistic of urban indifference.

Social Media Erupts in Outrage Over Kalkaji Metro Incident

The video of the incident has exploded online, amassing nearly 2 million views and triggering a storm of reactions across social media platforms. A large section of users strongly condemned the elderly man’s actions, describing them as highly inappropriate, indecent, and a serious public safety concern — particularly because the incident occurred in front of two women inside a confined metro lift. Many expressed shock at the lack of basic civic sense and demanded strict legal action against the accused. However, some users offered a more sympathetic view, citing the man’s advanced age and reports of a possible medical emergency.
