Panch Parivartan is essential for yuganukul social change: RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale

Pune: “Individual character-building and social organisation form the foundational philosophy of the Sangh. However, in tune with the needs of the time, the RSS has placed before society the concept of Panch Parivartan for constructive social transformation,” said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosabale while addressing the Snehamilan and Parivar Prabodhan programme organised by the ‘Anant and Padma Biradar Family’ at the National Institute of Naturopathy at Pune on May 16, 2026.
The mantra of Panch Parivartan: social harmony, family awakening, environmental protection, self-awareness, and discharge of civic duties — has emerged as the Yugadharma of Hindutva in the present era, he said.

Jagadguru Vachanananda Mahaswami of the Veerashaiva Lingayat Panchamasali Jagadguru Peetha, Harihar, Karnataka, was also present on the dais.

He asserted that discrimination based on birth is against divine values and has no place in Hindu society. “Social discrimination must be eradicated completely,” he said. On environmental protection, he noted that legislation alone cannot ensure conservation, and that ecological consciousness must become part of daily sanskars and social conduct.

Highlighting civic consciousness, he said citizens must remain aware not only of their constitutional rights but also of their duties towards the nation. Describing family as the basic economic and social unit of the nation, he said India could withstand centuries of foreign invasions because of its strong family system. However, blind imitation of the West in the technological age has created serious challenges before the traditional Bharatiya family structure.

Hosabale ji also stressed the importance of Bharatiya languages and cultural rootedness. He said every person residing in Maharashtra should know Marathi, adding that every Bharatiya language has produced world-class literature. “Children may learn foreign languages, but there should be no inferiority complex in speaking one’s mother tongue. Pride in language and culture must reflect in daily conduct,” he said.

“Family is the Soul of Bharat”

Describing family as the life-force of Bharat, Hosabale ji said a house can be built through material resources, but a family is built only through affection and emotional bonds. He observed that while the traditional joint family system may not always be practically possible today, mutual affection, emotional connection, and familial harmony must continue to remain strong.

Challenge of Social Media and Western Influence

Referring to the impact of social media and rising individualism, he said blind imitation of Western lifestyles is weakening family bonds. In such circumstances, imparting proper sanskars to the younger generation has become an even greater responsibility. “Family should not remain merely a functional arrangement; it must evolve as a centre of values and character-building,” he said.

“First Hindu, Then Lingayat”: Vachanananda Mahaswami

Speaking on the occasion, Jagadguru Vachanananda Mahaswami said that the future of healthcare lies in Yoga and natural healing systems. He also cautioned against attempts to divide Hindu society, asserting that “a Lingayat is first a Hindu and only thereafter a Lingayat.”
