The Index Cards and Statistical Reports have been released on ECINET as part of the ECI’s post-election statistical documentation process.
The data reflects Tamil Nadu’s traditionally high voter participation, particularly among women voters whose turnout surpassed male participation. The figures also indicate intense electoral competition in several constituencies, with a significant number of candidates contesting and a high rate of deposit forfeitures, highlighting the dominance of major political fronts despite the presence of multiple contestants in the fray.
What are Index Cards:
Index Cards published on ECINET contain extensive election-related data across multiple parameters. The Statistical Reports include a wide range of electoral data such as State-wise and Assembly Constituency-wise elector details, number of polling stations, constituency-wise voter turnout, gender-wise polling participation, party-wise vote share, constituency summary reports, and detailed constituency-wise results.
The Index Cards can be accessed through both the ECINET mobile application under the “About Elections” section and on the official ECI website at Election Commission of India Statistical Reports
The EC simultaneously released a set of 14 Statistical Reports relating to the General Elections.
The ECI said this marks the first time that detailed Statistical Reports have been published within 72 hours of the declaration of election results.
The ECI described the publication of the Index Cards and Statistical Reports as a suo motu initiative aimed at enhancing transparency and accessibility of election-related information for stakeholders including researchers, academia, political observers, and the general public.
The Commission stated that the Statistical Reports have been prepared using secondary data compiled through the Index Cards system.
