TN Elections 2026: Victory by just one vote in Tiruppattur, strength of democracy

In a dramatic electoral outcome, Tiruppattur constituency witnessed a historic finish as TVK candidate Seenivasa Sethupathy R defeated DMK’s Periakaruppan KR by just one vote, underscoring the power of every single ballot in democracy.

In a striking reminder of how every single vote counts, the Tiruppattur Assembly constituency delivered one of the closest results in recent electoral history, with the winner securing victory by just one vote.

In this razor-thin contest, Seenivasa Sethupathy R of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) defeated Periakaruppan KR of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam )DMK) by a margin of 1 vote, making it the narrowest victory recorded in the election.

Out of the total seats analysed:

15 constituencies were decided by margins under 1,000 votes.

Another 46 seats fell in the 1,000–5,000 range.

Beyond these, 43 constituencies recorded margins between 5,000 and 10,000 votes.

67 seats were decided by margins between 10,000 and 20,000 votes.

63 constituencies witnessed landslide victories exceeding 20,000 votes.

Overall, the data shows that 130 out of 234 seats were won with margins above 10,000 votes.
