Operation Sindoor Anniversary in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: The Indian Army commemorated the first anniversary of ‘Operation Sindoor’ in Menchuka in Arunachal Pradesh, with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and members of the local community. The event held at Government Higher Secondary School, was organised to highlight the operational significance of ‘Operation Sindoor’ and to enhance public awareness about the role, capabilities and preparedness of the Indian Army.

A detailed presentation was conducted, covering the broad contours of the operation, its planning, execution and key outcomes. The session provided the audience with a deeper understanding of the Army’s commitment to safeguarding national security and maintaining operational readiness in challenging terrain.

As part of the commemoration, a static display of weapons and equipment was also organised. The display showcased the modern inventory and technological capabilities of the Indian Army, offering the civilian populace a firsthand insight into the equipment used by soldiers in high-altitude and demanding operational environments.

The event also provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction between Army personnel and local residents, further strengthening the bond of trust, cooperation and mutual respect. Such initiatives continue to play an important role in reinforcing civil-military synergy in remote border areas. The commemoration concluded with a renewed resolve towards service, security and nation building, reflecting the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation.

Army honours Porters

Spearhead Division of Spearcorps commemorated ‘Labour Day’ at forward locations in Menchuka valley, paying tribute to the dedication, resilience and invaluable contribution of porters who continue to play a vital role in sustaining operations in challenging high-altitude terrain.

As part of the observance, a meaningful interaction and tea gathering was organised with the porters, recognising their hard work and steadfast support in ensuring movement of essential stores, supplies and logistics to remote forward areas. More than 50 porters participated in the gathering, which provided an opportunity for informal interaction, expression of gratitude and strengthening of mutual trust.

The event highlighted the important role played by local porters as an essential link in operational sustenance, particularly in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. Their contribution reflects courage, commitment and quiet service in support of the nation’s security framework. The gathering also reinforced the strong bond between the Indian Army and local communities in border areas. Such initiatives under the spirit of Operation Sadbhavana continue to promote respect, cooperation and civil-military camaraderie at the grassroots level.

The commemoration concluded with a message of gratitude and appreciation towards the porters, acknowledging them as a dependable backbone of operational support in the frontier region, said PRO Defence Guwahati Col. Mahendra Rawat.
