Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, while addressing an intellectual dialogue centred on Bharatiya thought, culture, and the contemporary global context on March 27, 2026, at the NITTTR Auditorium, Chandigarh.
The theme of the programme was “Indian Discourse in the Global Perspective,” aiming to explore the role and global relevance of Indian philosophy in present times.
He stated that while stories of war may appear appealing, engaging in actual conflict is undesirable. He remarked that those who initiate wars are often the ones who later speak of ending them. Referring to the Ramayana, he said the world can learn purity of thought and conduct from it, adding that Dharma is not confined to texts but is reflected in conduct and is embedded in Bharat’s civilisation and culture. Despite being a powerful nation, India has never attacked another country.
Following the lecture, he responded to questions from the audience. Addressing a query related to rumours circulating on social media, he cautioned against spreading misinformation, stating that even in disagreement, Bharatiya discourse does not promote falsehood. He highlighted that in our tradition of Shastrarth, debates conclude with mutual respect.
The programme was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Jagbir Singh, Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, a distinguished scholar in medieval Punjabi literature, folk traditions, and literary criticism. Prof. Braj Kishore Kuthiala, President of Panchanad Research Institute, was also present at the event.
