The commemoration of RSS senior pracharak M.A. Krishnan alias MA Sir was observed in Kochi on October 7 at the Bhaskareeyam Convention Centre, adjacent to Madhav Nivas in Keralam, where he lived for several decades, to pay homage to the senior Sangh Pracharak.

The emotionally surcharged programme was attended by BJP MLA V. Muraleedharan, Prajna Pravah national convener J. Nandakumar, Dr. D. Mavooth, vice chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, and P.K. Vijayuaraghavan, chairman of Balasamskara Kendra and a senior functionary of Balagokulam.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP MLA V. Muraleedharan said that MA Sir’s life was value-based. He made ‘Kesari’, a Malayalam weekly, a platform for budding writers. Kesari is a weekly with a clear ideological stand. He made sure that “Kesari” was committed to the country’s values and cultural entity. He did not go for position and fame. He believed that karma was his dharma. He practised it whichever field he entered. His journalism was not a job, but a tapas for taking the Bharatiya culture to the people.

Delivering the keynote address, Prajna Pravah national convener J. Nandakumar said that great luminaries were attracted to MA Sir. His appearance was unassuming. But, his atma was unparalleled. It was visible in his activities. He possessed unlimited creative power. He successfully carried out his contact campaign (sampark yajna) cutting across party affiliations. But, he had a unique quality: wherever he was, great personalities were attracted to him. It was his nature during his tenure as “Kesari” editor or his stay in Pranth Karyalaya.

J. Nandakumar added that Balagokulam is one of the most eminent organisations which have taken birth in the world. Balagokulam is more than enough to prove the creative power of MA Sir. He did not project his activities, life or behaviour. He was always immersed in Sangh Ganga, its movements and its journey. He made sure that his life flowed like that.

Dr. D. Mavooth, the vice chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, stated that MA Sir was a real karmayogi. He created the influence of spirituality among the people of Keralam. MA Sir created the foundation for the youths’ shift towards spirituality. The people of Kerala will remember the contributions of MA Sir forever. Practise his tradition is the greatest tribute to him.

P.K. Vijayuaraghavan, chairman of Balasamskara Kendra and a senior functionary of Balagokulam, told that MA Sir’s endeavour was to convert literate Keralam to cultural Keralam – Sakshra Keralam to Samskarika Keralam.

The Balagokulam founded by MA Sir made Janmashtami a celebration in the state which was a mere ritual fifty one years before. MA Sir was such a personality par excellence. He spent his life for such activities. Now, all karyakarthas should take up that responsibility.

M.A. Krishnan alias MA Sir, a senior RSS pracharak, breathed his last on September 29 at the age of 97.
