The Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) and the people of the province are turning more and more assertive in their demand for separation from Pakistan. The fight in this direction is escalating in violent forms with every passing day, thus posing a major political and security challenge to the atrocities of Islamabad. The region of Balochistan is categorically flipping out of the control of Pakistan, a province historically neglected by Islamabad in terms of governance and development. Balochistan has been a victim of enforced disappearances, death of innocent civilians, ethnic violence, targeted attack at the hands of Pakistan security forces coupled with administrative negligence.
As the fight of Balochistan against Pakistani atrocities escalate with utmost intensity, lately the Balochistan separatists have killed four personnel belonging to Pakistan Paramilitary troops. The strikes by the Baloch separatists have also severely injured many other personnel from the Pakistan Army. The armed Baloch separatists while travelling on a motorcycle opened fire on the vehicle belonging to Pakistani security forces that led to the death of four army men. The incident took place near the Molvi Salah Udin Madrasa Chaman town of the Balochistan province.
BLA releases video and identity of the Pakistan Army personnel
The latest attack on the Pakistani military personnel that led to the death of four personnel comes just a few days after Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) released a video depicting the identity of the seven Pakistani security personnel said to be captured and detained by the Baloch Army. The Pakistan Army had repeatedly denied any claims regarding the capture of its soldiers by the Baloch Liberation Army(BLA). However, the latest video released by the Baloch separatists directly challenges the claims of Pakistan and acts as a testament to the spiking separatist demand of Balochistan. The video is contradictory to the claims of Pakistan that no soldier has been captured by Balochs.
The new video released by the Baloch Liberation Army(BLA) shows Pakistani soldiers kneeling down amidst the rugged and rough terrain of Balochistan. In the video, one soldier said to be from the Pakistan Army is also seen sobbing by exclaiming, “I fight for Pakistan and today Pakistan Army does not own me. How can the Army say that we are not their personnel”. As evidence, the security personnel captured by the Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) in the video, showed their official service cards and national identity cards which affiliates them as Pakistani soldiers. The captured soldiers assert that they were recruited, issued identification and deployed by the Pakistan Army.
The Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) had earlier issued an ultimatum till February 22 to release the Baloch people and personnel detained by Pakistan. They had urged for a prisoner exchange. The BLA had also warned Pakistan that if Islamabad doesn’t accept for negotiations and release the Balochistan prisoners within the given deadline, the detained Pakistani soldiers could be executed. In the video, the captured Pakistani soldiers also urged the Pakistan government and military to negotiate with the Baloch Liberation Army and accept their demands including prisoner exchange. This latest escalation thus is a testament to the spiking seperatist assertions in Balochistan that is growing out of the control of Islamabad and Pakistan Army.
