Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a stern warning against those who indulge in vandalism and disruptive activities during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. In a strong message delivered during a press briefing after showering flower petals on the Kanwariyas, the CM announced that the state government will identify such miscreants and paste their posters in public. He further added that strict action will follow after the completion of the religious pilgrimage.
The Chief Minister made it clear that any attempt to defame the sacred Kanwar Yatra would not be tolerated. “Those who have tried to malign this holy journey under the garb of devotees will be exposed. Every incident is being recorded on CCTV. The administration is keeping a close watch, and none of the miscreants will be spared,” he said.
Attempt to Tarnish Devotion Will Not Be Tolerated
Expressing his disappointment over the misuse of social media and other platforms to spread misinformation and create unrest, CM Yogi warned, “Some people are deliberately trying to insult the faith and sanctity of this pilgrimage. Such elements are attempting to enter the yatra with the wrong intentions. Do not let such individuals become part of this sacred event.”
The Chief Minister urged citizens and devotees to remain vigilant and promptly report any unusual or suspicious activity to the authorities. He emphasized the importance of allowing the law to take its course, discouraging individuals from acting on their own. If anyone is found causing trouble during the yatra or tampering with the Kanwar, notify the police right away. Strict legal action will be taken against such acts.
Posters of Offenders to be Displayed
In a notable move, CM Yogi revealed that the state will put up posters of those who are caught creating disturbances during the yatra. “Their identities will be made public. Just as we’ve done before in other incidents, we will follow the same policy here. After the yatra concludes, the state will take decisive legal action against all those involved in creating nuisance,” he stated.
This decision comes in the wake of recent reports of minor scuffles, public disturbances, and deliberate attempts to provoke tension during the yatra. The government’s response indicates zero tolerance towards any activity that could disrupt religious harmony.
While reiterating his government’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and well-organized Kanwar Yatra, CM Yogi also urged devotees to be responsible and respectful. “Lord Shiva is the God of welfare and harmony. While the administration is doing its best, devotees too must understand their responsibilities,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of cleanliness, the Chief Minister called upon devotees to cooperate with sanitation workers and avoid littering public places, especially around intersections and roadsides. “Cleanliness is part of devotion. Spread devotion, not garbage,” he appealed.
The CM further praised the tireless work of police personnel and administrative staff in managing lakhs of Kanwar pilgrims across the state, especially in districts like Haridwar, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, and Baghpat. “Our police and administration have made excellent arrangements. Now it’s the duty of the people to ensure that discipline and devotion go hand in hand,” he said.
CM Yogi called upon community leaders, religious organizations, and local volunteers to step up and guide the youth participating in the Kanwar Yatra. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the pilgrimage remains a symbol of peace, spiritual awakening, and public discipline. This journey is more than a personal act of devotion; it represents a shared celebration of our cultural and spiritual legacy,” he said. “The environment must stay peaceful, respectful, and spiritually enriching for everyone involved.
Addressing the younger generation, CM Yogi advised them to express their devotion through discipline and public cooperation. “This is not a time for loud processions or reckless behavior. True devotion lies in respecting others, maintaining order, and helping fellow citizens,” he said.
As the Kanwar Yatra progresses towards its final stages, the Yogi government has made its stance unmistakably clear: any mischief will be met with strict consequences. Posters of offenders will serve as both a deterrent and a message of accountability.
With heavy police deployment, drone surveillance, and strict monitoring through control rooms, the state is determined to ensure that the yatra proceeds peacefully. The Chief Minister’s press briefing has sent a clear signal that religious faith should never be used as a cover for disruptive behavior.
“Let the Kanwar Yatra stand as a symbol of devotion, discipline, and unity,” CM Yogi concluded. “Anyone attempting to disrupt it will face consequences, regardless of their identity.”
