NEW DELHI: Commuters travelling through central Delhi on October 2, 2026, are likely to encounter traffic restrictions and diversions around Jantar Mantar and nearby areas, with the Delhi Traffic Police advising motorists to avoid affected stretches wherever possible. The advisory has been issued owing to the proposed protest threat by Cockroach Janata Party against CEC Gyanesh Kumar and SIR
According to the traffic advisory, regulated movement and diversions will be implemented around Jantar Mantar and adjoining roads in connection with traffic arrangements in the area.
The affected stretches include Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, GPO, Tolstoy Marg, Jantar Mantar Road and Parliament Street, besides other connecting roads in the vicinity.
The Traffic Police has urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes wherever feasible to minimise inconvenience and avoid congestion.
Key areas affected
Traffic regulations and diversions will be in place around several important roads and locations in central Delhi, including:
Connaught Place
Patel Chowk
GPO
Tolstoy Marg
Jantar Mantar Road
Parliament Street
Other adjoining roads
Motorists travelling through these areas have been advised to factor in additional travel time and account for possible delays resulting from regulated movement.

The Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to motorists to cooperate with personnel deployed in the affected areas.
Commuters have been asked to follow diversion signs, traffic instructions and directions issued by traffic personnel on the ground. Motorists have also been urged to remain patient and adhere to traffic rules while travelling through areas where restrictions are being enforced.
The advisory further recommends using alternate routes wherever possible, particularly for commuters who do not need to travel through the Jantar Mantar-Connaught Place corridor.
Traffic arrangements on October 2
The restrictions are part of traffic management arrangements around Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas on October 2. Since the affected roads include several important central Delhi corridors, commuters have been advised to plan their movements ahead of time rather than relying on the usual routes.
