Marking 100 days in office, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on June 16 praised the union government for its crucial support to her administration, saying the “double-engine government” has already begun transforming the city’s infrastructure.

Speaking at an exhibition celebrating 11 years of the NDA-led union government and 100 days of her Delhi government, CM Gupta highlighted the strong partnership between the two administrations, which is producing tangible results. “I am very happy that the union government has completed 11 years and the Delhi Government has completed 100 days. The way the double-engine government has started working in Delhi is commendable,” she said.

Gupta lauded the centre’s investment and support, especially in infrastructure and healthcare. “We have received substantial backing from the centre to develop world-class infrastructure in Delhi. Just in roadways, the support amounts to Rs. 1.25 lakh crore,” she said.

Emphasising the rollout of long-pending welfare programs, the Chief Minister added, “Major schemes like Ayushman Bharat, which were not implemented here before, are now supported by the centre. We have inaugurated Arogya Mandirs. In every initiative, the centre is working hand in hand with Delhi.”

Taking a subtle jab at the previous AAP government, Gupta stated that her administration’s approach represents a clear break from the past. “The earlier government neither acknowledged the centre’s efforts nor gave it credit. Now, there’s no finger-pointing, and governance appears more streamlined,” she said.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, present at the event, referred to the partnership between the Centre, Delhi Government, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi as a “triple-engine government,” emphasising its strong potential to drive development. “With PM Modi completing 11 years in office and backing from local bodies, there are no excuses left — it’s time to deliver,” he added. Gupta also called for increased cooperation from neighbouring states like Haryana.
