Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan undertook a significant two-day operational review of Indian Army formations involved in Operation Sindoor, visiting both Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir and Western Command at Chandimandir Military Station, Haryana.

The high-level tour underscored India’s zero-tolerance approach to cross-border terrorism, reaffirming the armed forces’ superior kinetic and non-kinetic response capabilities in the wake of Pakistan’s failed military adventurism during the recent India–Pakistan conflict.

At Udhampur, General Chauhan held detailed discussions with Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, and senior staff officers directly responsible for ground operations during Operation Sindoor—India’s comprehensive military counterstrike to eliminate cross-border terror threats and neutralise enemy aggression.

The CDS was briefed on:

  • Successful neutralisation of terror launchpads and logistic hubs across the LoC.
  • Precision targeting of adversary’s surveillance assets and communication nodes.
  • Protection measures for own military infrastructure and civilian population.
  • Post-conflict rehabilitation initiatives for civilians displaced or affected by enemy shelling in border districts.

General Chauhan was apprised of the Northern Army’s continued high readiness levels and its intensified counter-terrorism operations in Jammu & Kashmir. The Army Commander reiterated the commitment to eradicate the remnants of terrorism while maintaining an unblinking eye on hostile intent along the LoC.

At Chandimandir, General Chauhan met Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, GOC-in-C Western Command, and was given a comprehensive overview of kinetic strikes, deep interdiction missions, and precision artillery salvos executed during Operation Sindoor.

Key briefings highlighted:

  • Effective use of real-time situational awareness and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance).
  • Technological advancements including drone warfare, AI-enabled targeting, and battlefield logistics that powered India’s rapid and lethal response.
  • The success in deterring deeper incursions and breaking Pakistan’s supply lines to infiltrators along the Punjab and Jammu front.

The CDS also reviewed the non-kinetic dimensions of warfare, including cyber operations, electronic warfare, and psychological operations which blunted the adversary’s misinformation campaigns and sowed confusion within its ranks.

General Chauhan paid rich tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during Operation Sindoor, acknowledging their valour, discipline and supreme sacrifice. Their actions, he said, reaffirmed the Indian Army’s legacy of resilience under fire and surgical precision in combat.

He praised the inter-services synergy, terming it pivotal to the swift achievement of national security objectives. “Continued jointness and vigilance will be the cornerstone of India’s response to evolving threats along the Western Front,” he asserted.

The CDS also took note of Veterans’ welfare schemes, including improved medicare and support services for both serving and retired personnel, highlighting the Indian Army’s deep commitment to its extended family.

India’s armed forces are not only prepared for war but are ready to dominate it across all domains—from the icy passes of Kashmir to the plains of Punjab. The tour concluded with General Chauhan expressing his deep appreciation for the Armed Forces’ flawless execution under challenging conditions, attributing India’s recent operational success to the unwavering morale, preparedness, and professionalism of the Indian Army.

“Our adversaries miscalculated. What they encountered was not just a response, but a reckoning. Operation Sindoor is a testament to our Armed Forces’ resolve and capability,” said a senior official accompanying the CDS.
