The arbitrary actions of the Waqf Board are continuing. Be it Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu or Madhya Pradesh, everywhere the Waqf Board is occupying the land arbitrarily. Another such case has come to light from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh, where the Waqf Board has staked its claim on the cemetery of Christians. It is alleged that the Waqf Board has registered the cemetery as its property.
People of the Christian community have complained against the Waqf Board. It is being said that regarding the cemetery located on Station Road in the city, Vijay Gupta of the Christian community says that there is a cemetery of Muslims in Dewas Junior, which is already registered as Waqf property. Near the same cemetery is survey number 83, which is a cemetery of Christians; even in the revenue data, it belongs to the Christian community. In the complaint made against the Waqf Board, it has been alleged that it has taken this land in its name. The Grace Church has complained against it to the CEO of the Waqf Board.
Waqf Board denies land grabbing allegations
However, contrary to the allegations of the Christian community, the Waqf Board is denying the allegations of land grabbing. It says that the survey number of Christians is different, and the survey number of the cemetery under the Waqf Board is different. Representatives of the Waqf Board Committee say that misleading allegations have been made against them. Shakir Mansoori, Secretary of the Waqf Cemetery Committee, says that there are cemeteries of Christians and Muslims in Station Road, but the survey numbers of both are different.
It is noteworthy that the Waqf Board says that their cemetery is at survey number 83, 84, 85, while the Christian cemetery is at number 82. However, the Christian community says that its cemetery is at survey number 83, which the Waqf Board has registered in its name.
