Keralam: Complaint against Congress leader, Ex-Waqf Board CEO, over alleged EVM hacking fraud in 2026 election

A complaint has been forwarded by the Kasargod UDF leadership against Congress leader and former Waqf Board CEO B.M. Jamal, alleging that he collected money from UDF candidates after claiming he could hack EVMs using "German and Italian technology" to secure their electoral victories.

There are reports of a novel fraud from Kasargod. The complaint has been forwarded by the district (Congress-led) United Democratic Front (UDF) to the state leadership of the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League against Congress leader and former Waqf Board CEO B.M. Jamal.

He had allegedly approached the UDF candidates in Kasargod district with a promise to hack the EVMs to ensure their election victories in the Assembly elections held in April 2026. He told them that the BJP was likely to hack the machines, but that he had “German and Italian technology” for hacking and could ensure their victories. Jamal is a former Youth Congress district president in Kasargod.

He allegedly pocketed money from the UDF candidates of the Uduma and Kasargod constituencies. There are reports that he collected Rs 44 lakhs from a candidate. The UDF Kasargod district committee has complained to the UDF state committee and the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president against this novel modus operandi of fraud.

Interestingly, the incident is a severe blow to Congress leaders from Rahul Gandhi to V.D. Satheesan because, whenever the Congress loses elections, they keep complaining about faults in the EVMs. When they win, they keep mum. Now, their own leader has allegedly made money by raking up the issue of EVMs.
