The BJP was leading in all 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, according to the latest trends available from the vote counting underway on Tuesday (June 4).
Prominent BJP candidates showing strong leads included Jyotiraditya Scindia in Guna, Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Vidisha, Faggan Singh Kulaste in Mandla, Shankar Lalwani in Indore, VD Sharma in Khajuraho, Sandhya Rai in Bhind, Lata Wankhede in Sagar, Virendra Kumar in Tikamgarh, Alok Sharma in Bhopal, and Rodmal Nagar in Rajgarh.
Shankar Lalwani led in Indore by 288,639 votes over his closest competitor, with the NOTA (None Of The Above) option receiving 46,322 votes.
The Congress was effectively out of the race in Indore after its candidate, Akshay Kanti Bam, withdrew his nomination at the last moment.
In Vidisha, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is leading by 171,661 votes. Veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh is trailing in Rajgarh, where Rodmal Nagar led by 21,044 votes.
In Chhindwara, Congress incumbent Nakul Nath, son of Kamal Nath, is trailing, with BJP’s Vivek Bunty Sahu leading by 14,046 votes. During an interview with Organiser, Sahu claimed that the people of Chhindwara will join PM Modi’s Vijay Rath.
Veteran Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath said on Tuesday that he respects the verdict given by the voters as the initial trends showed his son Nakul Nath trailing from the traditional bastion of Chhindwara.
“Ab jo hai so hai… we will analyse the result whenever it is out,” Kamal Nath, who has represented Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency for nine times, told media after trends showed BJP’s Vivek Bunty Sahu building a good lead over Nakul Nath.
In Guna, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia was ahead by 159,229 votes. In Mandla, Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste led by 31,706 votes.
In Khajuraho, state BJP president VD Sharma was leading by 203,484 votes. In Ratlam, former Union Minister and Congress candidate Kantilal Bhuria was trailing by 87,938 votes.
In Rajgarh, incumbent BJP MP Rodmal Nagar was leading veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh by over 24,000 votes according to the latest official figures for the 2024 election results.
Lok Sabha polls in the state were held in four phases on April 19, April 26, May 7 and May 13. The voter turnout was 66.87 per cent.
Earlier in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 28 of the 29 seats, with the exception of Chhindwara, a stronghold of Kamal Nath.
