The Modi Government at the Centre has brought the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) with a clear-cut intention of fulfilling the promise given in the manifesto. But, the kind of narrative that anti-national forces are trying to set among the public regarding this is very dangerous. Like 2019, efforts are again being made to create anarchy in the country in the name of CAA. Efforts have started to instigate Indian citizens, especially Muslims, by saying that their rights are being violated.
Efforts are again on to create fear psychosis among the Muslims to a great extent by saying – ‘this is a message to the 17 crore Muslims of the country that they should take out their legal papers now’. Leaders like All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi are saying, – “Understand the chronology, first the election season will come and then the rules of CAA will come. …CAA is divisive and based on the thinking of Godse, who wanted to make Muslims second-class citizens. … National Population Register (NPR). The purpose of the CAA, along with the National Register of Citizens (NRC), is to target only Muslims; it has no other purpose.
Today, the focus of all Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s opponents on the CAA issue is how they should be successful in proving that CAA has been brought to make approximately 15 crore Muslims of the country stateless. With this thinking, most of the constituents of I.N.D.I. Alliance including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor are moving forward.
In fact, whoever political parties and leaders are opposing ‘CAA’ today, they must be asked what was the biggest reason for the partition of India? Who wanted a separate country on the basis of religion? Who started ‘Direct Action’ against non-Muslims on the same day in the whole of undivided India? And when there should have been a peaceful population exchange of Muslims and non-Muslims between two countries on the basis of religion, who were those people (leaders organisations) who did not allow this to happen, causing the killing of 10 million innocent people?
If this work had been completed at that time, then all the communal riots that took place in independent India from 1947 till now and the innocent common people who lost their lives in them would not have happened. Nor was there any problem like Hindu-Muslim in India. Not only this, the number of sleeper cells and terrorists who followed a particular religion and the number of bomb blasts that took place in the country during the last 75 years would not have happened. It must be said that the money and energy spent by the Central and State Governments in solving such matters could have been used for better use. Then, who was responsible for this? Those who were being deported or those who were subjected to inhuman torture simply because their religion was different? Should the victims be held responsible for all this?
It is very clear that the then-India-Pakistan Governments of 1947 were responsible for all the tragic divisions. If today, the Government of India, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has tried to correct the mistakes of the previous Government, then we must think with an open mind- should there be Opposition to this or universal support? Look at population statistics; According to the Human Rights Survey report, the population of Hindus in Pakistan was 15 per cent in 1931, which come down to only 1.8 today. Where have they gone?
There is publicly available data from the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, which shows that the condition of Hindus, Sikhs and Christians in Pakistan is very pathetic. Every year, more than a thousand Hindu, Sikh and Christian girls are converted to Muslim in Pakistan. If we look at the cases of general religious conversion apart from this official figure, then the number of conversions of minority girls alone increases much more than a thousand.
The situation of Bangladesh, too, is similar. In the census conducted in 1901 in undivided India, a total of 33 per cent of the Hindu population lived in Bangladesh, but the population of Hindus in Bangladesh, which came on the world map as a new country in 1971, is in continuous decline. Here, planned attacks are taking place on minority Hindus. In the last decade, there have been about five thousand attacks on Hindus, in which hundreds of lives have been lost and thousands of Hindus have been injured. In the year 2021, only 6.5 per cent of the population is Hindus. Whose number has further been reduced to only about 6.2 per cent in 2024. Think for yourself – what is the meaning of the 33 per cent population being reduced to six per cent?
The whole world knows that Bangladesh’s foundation of separation from Pakistan could be realised only after India’s helping hand. For this, the foundation of secularism was chosen, where people of all religions have the right to celebrate their festivals, religious freedom and equality. But just see the journey of non-Muslim people in the last 53 years; anyone can understand that just like in Pakistan, here non-Muslim communities, including Hindus have been no meaning of words like security, equality, religious freedom and human rights.
What happened and is happening during both Taliban rules in Afghanistan is also not hidden from the world. Even during the previous Government, killings of non-Muslims continued here. Here, only two to four Hindus and Sikh families are left. The overall conclusion is that it may be today’s Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan- the condition of non-Muslims in all these three countries is pathetic. On the other hand, it is the strength of the Indian Constitution that there is equal respect for all religions. When the Muslim League started ‘Direct Action’ on the basis of religion, then these two lines were drawn between India and Pakistan. They wanted a country of Muslims; they got it. Hindustan is for everyone. On one hand, the Muslims living here today are in a much better condition than those in Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan. Where on the other hand, the world knows today how bad is the condition of non-Muslims living in these three countries. That is why the Government of India has brought this law to provide a life of dignity to our people.
Certainly, this is the right decision of the Modi Government. Those whose ancestors worked to break united India through ‘direct action’ should remain where they are now. They should have nothing to do with Indian citizenship. Also, those who are raging that justice is not being done to Muslims in India today, they should also stay away from telling such lies. Because, the data of the Union Government schemes till now shows that in many schemes, Muslims are being given more benefits in proportion to their population. Finally, there are 50+ Muslim countries where these people can go!!!
