The President of India is also pleased to appoint C P Radhakrishnan, Governor of Jharkhand, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements are made.
The President of India has accepted the resignation of Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan as Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan resigned from her position as governor yesterday, submitting her resignation to President Droupadi Murmu. It is reported that Dr. Soundararajan is preparing to run for the upcoming Parliamentary elections in her home state of Tamil Nadu.
The press communication from President states that the above appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
CP Radhakrishnan, who hails from Tamil Nadu, is serving as Governor of Jharkhand with from February 18, 2023.
Since 1974, he has been affiliated with the Bharatiya Jan Sangh. From 2004 to 2007, he served as the Tamil Nadu BJP state chief. He served as a Member of Parliament from Coimbatore in both 1998 and 1999. This tenure lasted from 1998 to 2003. Following this, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Coir Board, Kochi, under MSME, Government of India, starting from January 27, 2016, for a term of three years, which was later extended for an additional year as a special extension. Moreover, he was a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) from 1998 to 2004 and a member of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee for Finance.
Additionally, he held the position of India in charge of BJP, Kerala (Prabhari) from 2020 to 2022.
