Quoting the late R Ramagopalan’s vision that a day would come when the whole Sindhu would become part of Bharat, Vice-President of India CP Radhakrishnan said he was confident that Ramagopalan’s dream would soon become a reality. He was speaking in Chennai on August 16 after releasing Echoes of a Nationalist Mind, a compilation of the writings and thoughts of Ramagopalan, the founder of Hindu Munnani, whom he described as a “Veerathuravi” (warrior sadhu) who dedicated his life to the service of Bharat Mata.

The Vice-President paid rich tributes, saying, “Ramagopalan lived not for himself, but for the Dharma of this land. He dedicated his life to the service of Bharat Mata.”

He said that between birth and death, Ramagopalan dedicated his entire life to the welfare of society, selflessly working to protect and preserve our Puranas, their culture and their importance. It can be weighed how much time we spend on these traits that would turn into history. Ramagopalan can be the best example of these qualities. Ramagopalan, till his last breath, fought against conversion, anti-God campaigns and propaganda by Dravidian parties.

With this in mind, he founded Hindu Munnani in 1980. At that time, none would welcome us, but those who say “not us” are more in numbers. Nobody was interested in Hindu Munnani’s views and its actions.

Radhakrishnan recalled Ramagopalan’s life and dedication in taking good thoughts across to Gen Z youths. He believed the same should get deep-rooted in their inner minds, as we sow good seeds. Sanatana is the asset of this soil which, at any time, should not be given up. That thought led him throughout his life. He kindled the fire of the spirit of “when will we see our Sindhu” in everyone’s mind. “I am confident his dream of Sindh becoming ours is not a dream. It will soon be ours.”

The Vice-President Radhakrishnan highlighted that Ramagopalan’s works reflected his deep commitment to his ideals and his contributions to public life. Radhakrishnan also emphasised the importance of preserving the thoughts and writings of individuals devoted to social and national causes.

In the function, Union Minister of State L Murugan, Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar, BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran, Hindu Munnani state president Kadeswara C Subramaniam, RSS Dakshina Bharat convenor Bakthan, Thanjavur Ramakrishna Mutt head Vimurthanandar and others took part.

During his visit to Chennai, Radhakrishnan paid tribute to former Governor La Ganesan and inaugurated the ‘Ala. Ila Trust’, which was established in his memory. Speaking at the first death anniversary function of former Governor of Nagaland, Manipur and West Bengal, he said Ganesan’s life was marked by tireless effort, perseverance and dedication.

The establishment of the “Ala Ila Foundation”, as an effort to preserve Ganesan’s memory and carry forward his ideals, I welcome the Foundation’s initiative to provide educational scholarships to the next generation. Recalling Ganesan’s strong opposition to the Emergency, the VP said Ganesan went underground for nearly a year. His commitment and hard work during that period are extraordinary.

Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan was on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu beginning August 16. During the visit, he participated in a series of academic, commemorative and literary events in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvarur and Thanjavur.

On August 16, he attended the 22nd Convocation of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chengalpattu, besides the first death anniversary function of former Governor Ila Ganesan in Chennai.

On August 17, the VP attended the 11th Convocation of the Central University of Tamil Nadu in Thiruvarur. He participated in the Ruby and Silver Jubilee Valedictory Celebrations of SASTRA Deemed University at Thanjavur.
