A tumultuous incident unfolded at the Pardeshipura police station in Indore on January 13, as Hindu activists raised objections over an alleged case of rape and love jihad involving a minor female student. Following the student’s statement, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and Love Jihad allegations.
Moin Khan, a resident of Lal Gali, faced legal action on charges of rape and violations under the POCSO Act following a report filed by a seventeen-year-old minor girl at the Pardeshipura police station. The accused was presented before the court on January 14 and subsequently sent to jail.
Protests began at the police station over the handling of the case related to love jihad. Officers conducted a statement from the minor girl in the presence of a female police officer. According to the police, a written complaint was received from the father of the minor girl.
The father of the young woman, in the written complaint, stated that the accused individual lured his daughter and took her to the Oyo Hotel in Pardeshipura. There, he forcibly established physical relations with her against her will. Despite the daughter resisting during this period, he persisted, even creating an explicit video of her. He is now threatening to make this video viral and has issued threats to harm her life.
He added that his daughter had been maintaining silence for a considerable period. Despite numerous attempts to inquire, she refrained from speaking. On January 13, during another attempt to converse with his daughter, she revealed her association with Moin Khan, a resident of the area.
Two months after her birthday, on September 17, Moin took her from Pardeshipura to a hotel in Bicholi Mardana. Allegedly, Moin forced her into a physical relationship against her will. When she resisted, he threatened her with dire consequences. Eventually, the accused dropped her home, creating pressure for future meetings.
Moin persistently pressured her for subsequent meetings, causing the victim to confine herself to her house. When the father learned about his daughter’s ordeal, he informed acquaintances and filed a complaint at the police station, leading to the registration of a case.
Hindu activists accused Moin of creating a video to defame the girl and claimed that he had transferred Rs. 25,000 from the father’s account. Additionally, they asserted that the accused was demanding Rs. 5 lakh and engaging in love jihad by pressuring the minor student to convert her religion. The police initiated an investigation following the protests organised by the Hindu activists.
